Somewhere after the second Rebuild Anno has lost the remainder of his sanity, that's what's going on. That's why the third Rebuild came out ages after second and looks nothing like what the teaser at the end of it showed. Whatever was the original plan for Rebuilds, that's not what we got.
Just watch it again imo. I’m not even saying you missed anything, but Evangelion as a whole, because of its super fast action sequences and super dense dialogue, has always been tough to “get” on the first go through. I’m watching the original series again and certain aspects of it really only now “make sense”. And honestly, you can make each watch through a little project. “What’s happening to the MC’s? What’s happening in the NERV perspective? Etc.”
And as usual, be very careful inserting Anno into the mix. Tons of “what did Anno mean by this?”-type questions are answered by “he thought it was cool”. You almost have to go backwards and learn about Anno and his history with Evangelion before you can try to disentangle his true personal influences from the “rule of cool” that pervades the series and creates its own gestalt mythology.
So yeah. Just watch it again. Figure it out for yourself. That’s like, almost the point haha. You’re not missing out by being confused I promise.
Might be a symptom of having watched it so many times but honestly I find the movies and even the show to some degree relatively simple. I also do watch a lot of older anime and have an appreciation for Anno’s message. It gets better over time.
It's a different universe so the rules are different. I think overall the original is better but the ending is better in the rebuilds
The rebuilds expand the ending from the series. From "a la gilada ni cabida" to "la ranchada no te abandona"
Huh? Google translate helped a little bit and I think I get it but... also not really lol
if u have any specific questions i'm sure people will be happy to answer them
What dont you understand, I think it makes more sense at face than the EoE

This makes sense

The first part was fine and a nice throwback but the whole end part made no sense
Evangelion imaginary? Human rei troll face. Surely anno is trolling
Have you watched the other rebuilds?
yeah it make no sense just watching that movie alone without at least the 3.333
Yeah I watched it and also was baffled. Seems like a lot of over technical jargon that didn't fit

I liked the gendou shinji thing and how kinda bleak the world was in that state but could have been darker and more nuanced
Just vibe with it
