Russians are operating 1 mile from where he is stood in Kupyansk.
Yes he took selfies in Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Pokrovsk, but this was before fibre optics where so commonly used and he was much futher out from the front line. In fact, he was about 28 km from the front line when he took his selfie in Pokrovsk in June 2024.
Where he is standing is outside Kupyansk, not inside the city center as the media makes it out to be.

If as you claim, they are operating 1.5km from his position, that means Russia controles the entire city to have troops at that location.
We know that they only had small part all the way to the north, and a few infiltrations from time to time. The typical 1 a 3 man teams what is not the typical russia way of operating.
Their actual position before the Ukrainians kicked them out, was 5km away from Zelenskyy his position. This was increased even more when the Ukrainians did their cleanup.
So no ... he was nowhere near as close to Russian as you claim.
The issue with maps in the Ukraine war, is that a lot of positions are very iffy, even on the best days. If you look at Russian claimed maps, sure, but Russia claims a lot of positions where they simply send their 1 a 3 man meat wave / infiltration troops, to take some foto ops.
Anybody that follows the Ukraine news knows that those signs are outside the cities. Nobody is making claims that he is at the city center, because if he was, he will have filmed it.

Russian frontline is about 5km away from the edge of Kupiansk, and regardless the AFU has had years to get use to Russia's patterns and know what's safe or not. The visit was certainly not without risk, but that risk was not anywhere what you think it is.
