For months now, after pulling a shot, my Breville Dual Boiler continues to drip from the group head for a few minutes.
So far I’ve:
• Replaced the group head gasket
• Descaled the machine
• Backflushed
The issue persists. My next suspicion is the 3-way solenoid valve, but before replacing it I wanted to sanity-check with the community.
Has anyone dealt with this? Does this behavior point to the solenoid, or is there something else I should be looking at?
Have you rapidly unscrewed the shower screen post-shot to identify what is leaking? It is pretty easy to remove by my memory
Just did what you suggested. As soon as I unscrewed i saw quite a bit of standing water between the shower holder and the water path that originates from the brew boiler.
But i also saw a slow drip forming on the same hole.

So, at the very least, it's originating from inside the machine (sorry, that's not good lol).
Could talk to Breville about it, I've heard their support is hit or miss.
Is your machine within warranty?

Fwiw, upgrading with a 20$ IMS showerhead was a much bigger upgrade for me compared to basket and bottomless portafilter. Well worth it!
Great to hear! I ordered the IMS kit yesterday on Amazon. Not sure if it will improve the drip situation though.
Fingers crossed! I m no expert if not maybe contacting breville is a good next step.
Just curious, what benefit did the shower head give you?
Prior to it I had channeling and it fixed it as well as made the extraction better resulting in a maybe subjectivly better taste.
I had done a vid before and after with both showerheads without portafilter.
Before water was unevenly distributed and was half dripping half running. Afterwards it was a perfect rain situation. That sold me.
Yeah, you're on the right track. May just need to replace or clean out the valve, if possible
