We won, the President lost and now I’m back on the air every night giving the most powerful politician on earth a right and richly deserved bollocking,” he said, deploying a rather British term. “That’s a word, right, I used it properly?”
Kimmel concluded his message, broadcast shortly after the more traditional King’s Christmas Day speech, by apologizing to the U.K. for the current state of the U.S., asserting that Americans are “not all like” Trump and urging Brits to hold out.
“No one knows better than you we’re always just a little bit late to the game, but do we come through in the end? Maybe. Give us about three years. Please.”

In the UK, King Charles urged communities to pull together in a divided time. Two very different messages from world leaders. Kimmel addressed this by contradicting the president yet again and sent a message to the rest of the world that the US is a hot mess but will come around in time. I found the message inspiring; who cares if it came from a late night host?
People quite rightly have the right to disagree with us having a monarchy in the UK. But seeing America's President makes me happier every year that our head of states main jobs are to open charity events and give a nice message at Christmas time. I dread us moving towards a partisan elected head of state who exists to push whatever far right populist viewed eventually gain power here.
