Hi everybody. I’m currently an English major set to graduate a year early. My scholarship is four years so I figured I might as well add an additional degree or minor before starting work. I’m interested in working in the copywriting field. Not sure if I should focus on creative writing, business, or something else. If there’s anyone with similar situations/advice I’d love to hear it. Thanks
I work in grant writing and a minor / major in accounting would have made me sooooo much more marketable.
I double majored in English (professional writing) and Philosophy. I love my philosophy major though. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I sometimes consider going back to school part time to get some finance classes in.
fellow english + phi double major here! agreed with everything you said.
These majors go together so beautifully. I am def biased but I love that combo.
Currently double majoring in comparative literature and it’s been really helpful - it depends on the university, but at mine, you examine literature in a language other than English. It’s quite nice if you want to get a perspective outside of the Anglophone world, and it’s made me more conscious of the mechanics/grammar of English (but of course, you’d probably need the extra language). Also recommend maybe looking into Classics, since it’s the foundation for English literature
Most obvious majors / minors to double in if you want to get into copywriting: - communication / media studies - public relations - advertising - journalism - marketing - psychology
I’m an English Major with a Minor in Marketing. I love both but have no desire to take any more math. Passing statistics with a 98% took every ounce of concentration with more breakdowns than a Ford Pinto.
Do a business double major or minor if you can
