Anyone else applying to Comp Rhet PhD programs in the US? Curious as to where you're all applying! I've finished up my eigth and final application today to Carnegie Mellon University. Graduating with my Masters in the Spring, hoping to start PhD in the fall.

  • Awwwww. My friend tenured there. Good egg. Brilliant mind. So generous. I hope you get in and get to work with this amazing person.

Honestly it wasn't even in my top 3 until recently, but their program seems incredible. I'd love to work with their writing center.

Pittsburgh has also been listed as the only major metropolitan area where it's more affordable to buy instead of rent, which is insane. The housing market there is crazy low, and it seems like a fantastic place to call home.

  • Here's my full list (in no particular order) for anyone curious! 1. University of Wisconsin - Madison 2. University of Connecticut 3. University of Maryland 4. University of Michigan 5. Washington State University 6. Carnegie Mellon University 7. University of New Hampshire 8. University of Massachusetts - Amherst

Are these all English comp rhetoric programs?

Yes, all except for University of Michigan. I believe that one is English and Education, and my focus will just be in rhetoric.

Are any of these online programs?

    No, they’re all in person

My writing professor got the same PhD at Umass amherst and he liked it

  • Where did you do your masters at?

I'm still in it so I won't say exactly just for privacy reasons, but it is a small, dying school in the Midwest. I am not sure if the people looking at my applications will have heard of it, but I'm hoping my writing makes it so that that doesn't matter

You can probably guess based on OP’s other posts

I literally have no clue, unfortunately.
