Hi everyone,

I’m currently working on a project related to energy markets, and I’ve come across Noreva, a platform that offers forecasting tools for energy markets. One of the features that caught my attention is their capacity forecasting suite, which promises to provide forecasts for capacity prices, auction outcomes, and other key metrics.

I’m considering integrating it into my project, but I’m looking for some feedback and insights from anyone who’s used it. Specifically, I’m interested in understanding:

  1. What does the capacity forecasting suite include? I’ve read that it covers things like forward price forecasts, auction prices, and seasonal variations, but I’d love to know more about its features and how they work in practice.
  2. How accurate and reliable are the forecasts? For those who have used it in real-world projects, do the predictions hold up? How confident were you in using them for decision-making, investment planning, or risk management?
  3. Which markets and regions does it cover? I’m particularly interested in its coverage of regional markets (e.g., PJM, CAISO, MISO), and whether it provides detailed insights for smaller or less common energy markets as well.
  4. How easy is it to integrate with other systems? I know that Noreva offers API feeds and CSV downloads. Have you been able to incorporate these data points into your models or asset valuation systems?
  5. User experience and support: How intuitive is the platform? Did you find the user interface to be easy to navigate, and were you able to get adequate support when needed?
  6. Alternative tools: Lastly, if you’ve compared Noreva’s forecasting suite with other tools in the market (e.g., S&P Global, Wood Mackenzie), how does it stack up in terms of pricing, features, and reliability?

Any experiences, suggestions, or insights would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

  • That is a very niche question.

Go to Distributech and ask around. Ask their sales engineer. Ask the sales person for reference customers to interview. Research competitors. Search industry sources. Read/commission a market analysis.
