I’m planning on freezing my eggs, but a little concerned about 1) how my body has historically been with pelvic pain and 2) whether I’ll be paying out of pocket for something that should have been covered by insurance. I’m not currently diagnosed with endo.

Since I was a teenager, before going on birth control pills, I’d regularly faint at school or wherever I was from excruciating pelvic pain on the first day of very long (6-day) periods. It got under better (though not perfect) control with hormonal birth control pills. Years after, when I got an IUD, I basically fainted during insertion and it was horrendously painful.

Now (31) I’m honestly living my best life pain and period free with that hormonal IUD. But I’m planning on freezing my eggs this year in Mexico where I can better afford the procedure.

Is it worth getting tested for endo 1) so docs can be aware during the egg freezing process, 2) so I understand what my fertility future really looks like, and 3) to potentially get it covered by insurance? That all kind of sounds like a yes but I’m scared about the timeline of that process in the US and wondering if it’s even worth it now or if I should just address it if it comes up during the egg freezing process in Mexico. Any explanation on timeline or insurance coverage would be so appreciated!
