After the shadPS4 team removed the game installation feature, the emulator is useless to me. I know people will suggest using shapd plus, etc... but it hasn't worked on Linux for a while now. I don't understand why an emulator exists if 90% of people won't be able to test it or even know how to install a game to report on or check the project's progress.
Download a previous version of Shad that still has the feature (I use 0.6), install the games with that, then just copy the game directory to your up to date installs game location. Works a treat (though I agree I wish the feature was still in the recent versions).
I believe you're intended to get the "installed" (I.e. already unpacked) game files off of a jailbroken ps4, then copy them straight over to your shadps4 folder. Basically so the developers can have more plausible deniability by not letting people directly install pirated .pkg files. Thankfully there's ways around that though.
Every time I've seen someone pirate a game and open a bug report (i.e. PCSX2, RPCS3, etc) the person was not tech-literate, so requiring some technical knowledge to install games would probably stop a good chunk of those reports. I get why they did it.
There are tools to convert PKG to JB folders. Really the issue I have that also PS3 and Vita emulation has, is the lack of a compressed image format even for games as small as PS2 games.
There are tools that convert pkgs to disc games, this is just inconvenient... I'm still waiting for the emulator to mature enough so I can go back to it and test a few games.

I download the shadqt and downloaded the latest version in version manager, set the directory for my already installed games from the previous versions, set sys modules file location. When i start a game it just says cannot find the emulator executable???

Actually, I just looked it up, and there's PKGInstall, it's an appImage, so you just click on it.

Yes, did the same. Use shad plus for installing the games and set the same game directory on shad official. Using the appimages on Linux.
this is stupid move to make the emulator not support piracy
but as usually this only make legal user life harder

These projects CANNOT openly support piracy. I don’t understand how this is hard. The PS4 is an active product.
