I know people like to talk about how Denuvo kills performance in games, but this is on a different level. A copy protection scheme that cuts your effective frame rate inhalf was a stupid idea, but they did it anyway.
The original arcade version of Double Dragon had terrible lag due to poor performance of the protection scheme. Bootlegs that hack the protection out perform a lot better.
I know it's a long shot, but with this many wasted CPU cycles, I wonder if the game could be ported to a less powerful hardware, like an Amiga 500 or Atari ST
