• It's pretty amazing just how far PS3 emulation has come in the past 10 years. There were people who insisted it would never be possible.

I'm one of those people and am happy to admit I was proven wrong and am grateful for it

Proven wrong? Were you strangely claiming or believing it would never be emulated?

I thought it might be emulated but not for a long long time.

Mostly because they had to take the Cell chip and make it work with x86 architecture and the speed of chips wouldn't emulate it well enough for another decade

With computers I've come to learn anything is possible. It either takes A. time or B. hardware. Doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense or seems impossible. Denuvo would never be cracked, PS3 would never be emulatable, FSR4 would never work on RDNA3, etc.

I’m not a backend type of guy or anything but with the leaps we’ve recently seen in modern emulation and softmodding/jailbreaking, I don’t think I’ll ever say never in this realm again.

There were people who insisted it would never be possible.

Question: Did those people have any clue what they were talking about, on a technical or project level?

    No.

"Never" was ignorant. "Longer than precious generations" was quite rational.

  • the long instruction names are hilarious.

  • Cookie is great 👍

  • VPSADBW/VPDPBUSD are such useful instructions outside of their intended use-case.

  • I'm interested in hearing how the ARM recompiler compares to the x64, its strengths and weaknesses.

PS3 is only possible to emulate thank to a decade of optimizations, and I assume the recent ARM is greener

  • Those devs are mad genious, wish they would try to help to progress some more emulators, like eden or mame systems that are not emulated yet.
