Every single start up and whenever you go from drive to park it beeps at you. The beeping is just annoying as hell and way too aggressive. Feel like there has to be a way to turn it off somehow but of course settings only show date/time

  • Sorry, this isn’t helpful but empathizing. We just got a new ambulance with an eco mode. Most of our trucks you can push the anti theft button, pull the keys and lock, and the truck stays running keeping the compartment at temp and batteries charged. The new one turns itself off after 2 minutes and doesn’t run for 5 minutes, and eventually starts itself up again. When it does start up the heat fans in the back blast at aircraft engine decibels unless you manually turn it down. So on critical calls this stupid truck is needing consistent attention just to stay warm and to hear. The settings are locked to management that’s here once a month, so we haven’t even been able to change the clock since daylight savings time changed! Sorry for the rant. Hope you figure it out.

We definitely have the same ambulances. I hate the eco mode, but I hate the damn jet engine fans even more.

The trucks at my station do that and if we're posted in the cold we put the parking brake on and put the truck in neutral, then they don't shut off like they would in park. Need to be parked flat for that to be safe obviously.

  • If you’re friendly with your mechanic see if they can hook up the thing is that pulls codes and poke around in the settings. Our expositions had a hidden stealth mode that disables all the interior lights when you open the doors.

  • Not to self and Equipment committee dont get Horton trucks

No clue why this is getting downvoted, they’re garbage.

    What is better?

    Frazer, AEV

AEV is absolutely garbage. They’re essentially polished turds

And Horton….. isn’t? It’s literally bells and whistles slapped on a flawed design.

But to say that AEV is a cromulent substitute is just disingenuous. Horton’s flaws don’t make AEV a good ambulance

I will take a new AEV type 1 over a Horton type 1 any day

I don’t have to because I buy Frazers, but still.

No Brauns? Those are the shit nowadays

I don’t have much experience with them

Minimal Frazer experience. AEV is lowest bidder garbage. Not even in the same realm

Frazer is the way to go, but AEV is an acceptable alternative. If you actually use your vehicles, Horton are some of the worst on the market. They have a horrible design that put them years behind their competitors - they have only rectified it as of this quarter.

    Elaborate?

    The air conditioner.

That’s because you work for a cheap department you need to get the cool tech system

Lol no I don’t. Our trucks have cool tech. Still destroys blowers constantly, because it’s a shitty design.

Did you just buy your first Horton, is that why you’re defending them? I have a few dozen.

  • Put your parking brake on… Hortons alarm when they’re parked without it.

I just said the same, and then saw your comment. Guess we can see who has been with Horton for awhile.

  • I made sure in my spec to remove that. It only activates when emergency lights are on and placed in park. Unfortunately this is not adjustable without Horton writing a new eprom for the truck.

  • Ours do this ALL the time. I turn the key to let it cycle before I start the engine, 🚨SHORELINE PLUGGED IN!!🚨 Partner opens their door as I'm throwing the air brake, 🚨CAB DOOR OPEN!!🚨(and then it goes off every time anyone opens ANY door until the next time I put the rig in gear and back in park). I shift from drive to reverse? 🚨SET PARKING BRAKE!!🚨 That one makes the least sense to me, but my stubborn BC insists it's "supposed" to do that 🙄

  • Crazy litigation defense features.

  • I heard beeping, looked around for how to shut it off... turns out IT WAS YOUR DAMN MESSAGE :)

  • Just push the x to clear the message?

This video undersells how crazy loud it is. I don't even key up on the radio when it's doing this. And it beeps about something several times per run.

  • It is a safety feature for you and everyone around. Just engage the parking brake when shifting into park.
