Yes. There are plenty of guides online from "back in the day".
Can't say I would recommended anyone make an unregulated mod though. You make any mistake with the contacts, battery, &/or the coil and you will experience dangerous thermal runaway with the battery.
The videos/tutorials online should go through why certain things are done in certain ways for safety's sake.
I one back in 2020 made one using eleaf pico tank and made a mod by myself but i was unable to find charging for that sadly. Rn i have elfbar moonlight but trust me here in india its super duper expensive to buy it.

Yes it can be done.
Go buy a project box, 510 connector, an 18650 3d printed battery sled, some contacts and some 10g wire and a mosfet chip and your button of your choosing and have at it. Also grab an inline fuse holder and a fuse.
Ditch the idea of a pen type mod and internal charging.
Just make sure you have vents otherwise you might loose a leg or your dick. At least with vents you'll only have scars if an infection doesn't get them.
I did this long ago, ebay is a great place to look for coils and other hardware like 510 adapters if you need. tread with caution if you are under 18 though as some parts require signature (learned that the hard way by being 16)
Building it is certainly possible, but you should really have a solid understanding and experience with electronics and safety.
It's very easy for a small mistake in design, construction, or use to turn it into a fireball or bomb.
