Just found I have this condition. I have always felt my ear were little pressurised or something because everytime I blink I hear the rumble but I didn't think that was weird since I can do that on command in short bursts. But I don't think I want to hear the rumble anymore, is there a way to get rid of it Without a surgery?
I don’t speak for all of us, but I do think the majority of us don’t have it activating with every blink, and it’s just a controlled action. I sometimes feel it when I yawn, but if I’m going to rumble it’s usually intentional.
You may need to speak to an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctor first to see if something is going on (like TMJ, or jaw clenching).
This is where the rumble when you blink is actually a symptom of some other problem -as most of us don't experience this. Only rumble intentionally or during extreme group muscle contraction like yawning.
Please see a medical professional- Reddit cannot help you with this.
Don’t blink so hard.
Does it bother you? Or is it just something that puts you out of the norm? It doesn't hurt unless you get migraines from doing it for so long.
It doesn't hurt at all. And I can blink without rumbling as well I just have to blink very softly. I just don't feel normal. It's like something is wrong with my hearing.
I get it like this. Drives me nuts.
My son (now 15) told me when he was about 8 years old that he could constantly hear his blinks. His pediatrician was baffled by it and said if it really bothered him we could go get a neurology work up but to basically wait and see if it persisted for a long time. A few months later I asked him about it and he said it didn’t anymore unless he blinked really hard. It was only like a year ago I realized we are both ear rumblers when I had the similar feeling during a bout of severe sinus congestion and went down the reddit ear rumblers rabbit hole!
