    I moreso said that in the context of trying to make a joke.

    Now that you mention it, I have not googled to verify. When I was a kid in 2000s my mom just told me that animals like squirrels, foxes, and yard gophers can become infected witth rabies. It's fucked up but she would warn me that if an infected animal bit me, I needed to strngle or by any means kll it so that it could be tested for rabies instead of me being tested/treated. She said the testing was horrific, although nowadays the process has apparently improved.
