10 year Dasher, and this gig can actually be enjoyable. Aside from traffic snags and issues with orders from time to time, not a bad job....until you get hung up on your ratings. Realize DD created, and continues to adjust the rating system for one goal; to create fear. That's it. Checking them has the potential to completely ruin your mood.
Just do the best job you can on every delivery. Don't unassign unless absolutely necessary. Check the orders the best you can to make sure everything is there, pay attention to and follow delivery notes. That's it. I could care less about my time to the restaurant or customer's address. I'm not risking a ticket or accident over food delivery. Last time I checked my ratings was 4 years ago and it's a better life.

The only thing that bothers me is shopper score. You’re not supposed to lose points if you take a clear picture of the empty shelf which I do every time.
Their shopping recognition is the worst. Penalize you even though you follow their instructions, show the item out of stock, but don’t seem to earn score when you find original items or add locations…totally bogus
I dont bother doing shop and deliver. Too annoying.
What does it matter? If you're doing the best you can, you cant "better your best" no ignore it.
Doordash relies on algorithms to operate like it or not you get worse orders dor lower ratings and it sucks
Lol...no you don't man. I've been at this 10 years.
As if DD has never implemented changes to their system...
The moral of your post is good but this comment makes you come off as snide and ignorant, especially since it's wrong.
It’s not wrong, it’s market dependent. In a busy enough matter you’ll get a solid flow of good orders with well under 20% acceptance rate. Only things to keep in shape where I’m at are on time deliveries and customer rating.
Most of the photo should be taken up by the barcode on the shelf. Not the actual empty shelf which would make sense. They mainly want to know you checked the correct area. So showing the tag big with name of item is important. Haven’t had any issues in awhile doing it this way.
Took your advice and took two super clear pictures of the tag and still lost points
You’re supposed to take a picture of the price tag, not the shelf.
I do. With the bare shelf visible
8 year dasher here, couldn't agree more. Its wild seeing so many people get caught up in their ratings. It feels like some even care more about their ratings than the actual profit they make from doing the job lol
The platforms are specifically designed like this. Keep the little man down, ”you’re not reaching everyone’s expectations”. A significant amount of people care too much about what other people think.
Been doing this for years and I check my rating regularly. However I don't let it affect me or anything I do. I just make sure my completion rate is on track and don't worry about anything else.
Completely agree, well said. The bottom line is that door dash not only needs but absolutely depends on the drivers. Without us they have no platform whatsoever. Do the best job you can and don't worry AT ALL about how they are measuring you. Those measurements are not for your benefit...they are for theirs. I don't ever even look at them. They have nothing to do with me as far as I'm concerned.
Sure. Fantastic. This works for *you** and your market*.
When I attempted to be so casual, I ended up waiting an hour or more between offers, if I ever got them at all. Drop below gold, and you should just delete the app.
My advice, is don't give advice in the nationwide forum, because nearly everything is market dependent.
Honestly, how much did you make last week?
Great advice. I do EBT 90% of the time due to the hourly rate being so high. I know the majority of the tips suck doing it this way, so I don't even look. EBT you don't know the tip until after you accept it. I used to look and got aggravated more often then not. But then I look at my dash at the end and I'm still averaging $25 an hour plus. So i jusr do what I can do and it all works out.
I've also learned a lot more peeps are starting to tip cash in my area so the $0 tips people keep rejecting are sometimes the really good ones
Yeah, tried switching back to EBO as a "new years resolution" but it backfired spectacularly...too much downtime and too many orders paying below $6 each (my minimum for 1 delivery). EBT definitely gets you more "no tippers" but the algorithm tends to still be fair and mix it with good customers too. I noticed a significantly better experience on Tuesday, one of the slower days of the week in my area. That's not to say that EBO can't still be great on the weekends, when it's busy and there's a lot more high tip orders, but EBT definitely is more consistent (if probably less pay on the weekends).
On average after tips EBT pays basically as well as Uber Comfort in my area so I keep it running. It also meshes super well since demand profiles are different (a dead zone for food is not a dead zone for rides, and vice versa)
I have the same mentality. So much can change at the drop of a hat. Its not worth looking and seeing something you dont wanna see then it ruins your day and you then perform not as well.
Agreed, the only time it matters really is when you're new and you're concerned about a bad early start potentially messing with your account. Once you hit 100 ratings, if you do what you've been doing to get there there will not be any appreciable changes basically ever.
Do your best and the numbers work themselves out.
The only rating that matters is $/hr
5 year dasher, I only care about keeping my completion rate above 90%, i don’t pay attention to any other ratings
I think that's smart. I think every now and again, if something specific comes up where you wonder if a customer is going to rate you bad, then I'll check it, but it's rare.
How many cars have you gone through in ten years? I have already put 22k miles and I've only been doing this for 7 months.
Amen, well said!
Teacher’s pet behavior. Dd doesn’t gaf about you
A little young to be dashing ey? What state got you a license at 10 yo?
But don't you get less orders if the rating is lower?
This is what I can say as a Dasher with over 26,700 dashes.
I ignored my ratings last year for awhile and my on time rating fell to 72. I did nothing wrong, I just didn't worry about it. Still delivered quickly and the only time I was late was because either the restaurant was slow or the traffic was bad. I also do a lot of undesirable drives because I'm in California and I'm Platinum.
For a long time, agents told me that they know the on time rating is flawed and that I shouldn't worry about it. But around late November, early December my earnings were really going downhill so I asked for advice. At least six different agents told me that my on time rating was causing me to get less or worse offers.
So, I started calling every difficult drive and disputed every bad rating. Currently, I'm at 100 on time, 100 CR, and 5.0 customer rating.
Are my earnings any better? Not much, but they aren't at rock bottom like they were before. I also have shopping turned off because I hate their dumb shopping ratings. I'm a pro shopper but I hate the original items found rule so I opt out most of the time.
I think if I left everything on, I'd be making okay money but I don't like bullshit aggravation.
My point is that it feels like it matters in my market. Overall, Doordash doesn't pay what it used to but I don't think you can ignore your ratings either. I think they help a small amount.
I agree you should never run red lights to make your on time rating, but you should call and have them fix it when possible.
Good advice until the restaurant takes over 10 minutes upon arrival to get the order ready. You’ve notified the customer and did everything right by waiting diligently.. only to get a contract violation for late pick up, then get your dispute rejected.
Same, I don’t focus on my rating at all. Been doing this for 4 years
I keep an eye on my total delivery count so I know how much so I can better manage my completion rate. Other than that, I pretty much ignore the other ratings. I only know my acceptance rating because they're so in your face about it.
What do you do about the on time thing? I havent touched delivery apps in almost two years, but that seems like an easy thing to lose access for
Agree that it's key not to fall for their psychological tactics, but they need to be held accountable for the shitty way they do business. We're punished for so many things that are out of our control, and it does affect our finances. I'm not even talking about tiers. They put it in print that offers are based on our on time ratings, but they penalize us when the store is running behind, there's traffic/construction/bad weather, etc. And there is no pattern to what is considered late. I've had some deliveries, including stacked, that were only three minutes late (usually because they don't allow enough time for pick-up, especially if there are other customers ahead of you) marked late. I realize that their goal is to make as much money as possible, while trying to push our limits, but the the lack of recourse is beyond frustrating.
Does OP accept every offer ?
That fact is not included.
It's I "couldn't" care less. To say "I could care less" implies you have more, less care, to offer. Just an observation.
The one that bothers me is when someone says "they're so entitled" when they mean to say they have a false sense of entitlement
At the end of the day we all know what they mean though
Nah I disagree. Don't STRESS about your ratings. But you should absolutely keep an eye on them, at least occasionally.
The other night I wasn't getting very many orders. So I checked my ratings.
I had a two-star rating and thumbs down for order handling removed the other night without even asking. Just asked the agent what it was about. Because none of my orders were mishandled. And I've never had someone upset in over 11,000 deliveries. Lost my five star rating. Support went ahead and removed it within seconds.
I immediately started getting good orders again. Not a coincidence.
I appreciate your input and I’d love to be where you’re at , however the on time rating is the most important and hardest to get a good score on. It’s really the only thing preventing me being at platinum which is where you have to be to get the higher tips and high volume of offers. I’m only at silver and I just get too few orders. I’ve been out since 10:30 this morning it’s now 1:pm I just finished my first delivery for $7 bucks! Clearly something has to change or I’ll have to go somewhere else.. any suggestions on how I can overcome this I’d really appreciate it..
Well I'm not DD's circus monkey. I do the best job I can, if that ends up getting me "punished" somehow, oh well, I'll go do something else.
