I did the same thing on insta with the guy who crated Tales from the Gas Station (creepypasta series where an insomniac works at a supernaturally inclined gas station in the middle of nowhere)
I thought it was just someone sharing a story, and suggested that the author get the Gas Station book series
I actually had someone talk about a story (more like a collection of poems) that I wrote on Wattpad like a year before I met them when I was in high school 😭 She legit had a small fangirl moment when I told her I wrote it and I will cherish that memory for the rest of my life
Totally different situation for me but you reminded me of the time when I had this crush on a girl on sketch comedy show that was on PBS (we were both 17), and she came up to me at a concert and asked if my name was "FauxReal" and I was shocked that she knew that and that I was in a local band. And introduced herself and I was all like I know who you are, I love your show and then I kinda just blanked out and excused myself then left. lol never ran into her again.
I'm just imagining someone seeing a book in one of your pictures and finding out it was ghostwritten then furiously studying said book only to give subtle hints that lead to you suggesting the book so they could know enough about it to claim they wrote it to get a date
My stats teacher in high school recommended Angels and Demons to Dan Brown, and only realized who she had talked to after he left and she saw his picture in the author bio
Not quite the same, but I had a friend who was the model for a video games main character. For fun, we went to some sort of con where people dressed like video game characters. He dressed in the actual outfit from the game and people would come up and say “you look just like him, it’s incredible”.
Or that people just didn't notice, I frequently don't register pfps, I will see the general shape and colour and form an image of it in my mind without necessarily realising what it actually is.
Lol I’ve gone back and re-read stuff I wrote YEARS ago. Stuff I didn’t remember writing or only had the vaguest notion that I wrote them (long story short I got very sick for a time in grad school and besides it permanently affecting my memory in the long run there’s been things I wrote during that period that I genuinely have no memory of). Sometimes I’ll read a line and it’s like a flashback to the moment I wrote that sentence, what exactly was going through my mind at that moment and my reasoning for choosing the wording I used. Sometimes, I’ll even think “hey this was pretty good stuff, Past-Me”.
Other times, I’ll read a line I wrote years ago and be like “where the fuck did this come from???”
Due to memory problems, I, too can experience things for “the first time” again. It’s one of the only pros. It’s all new and then suddenly it’s unlocked.
a) CG Drews is female and b) she got internet-famous as a book influence called paperfury before she started publishing as CG Drews. So paperfury is a crucial part of her brand
I remember a horror story creepcast covered that was kinda like his aesthetic, but I can't remember its name for the life of me. (The one of the wendigo girl who tries to get some kid with a helpless family to eat human meat or something)
Everyone is the main character of their own lives. Main character energy is when you fail to recognize that this is the case for others as well as yourself.
You know you wrote a good book when strangers recommend it to you
I once had the good fortune to recommend a book to someone on a dating app only for him to respond “umm…I wrote that book.” 😂 It was a good date!

hey, you got any more of those handplants?

Now THAT is a small freakin’ world!
Totally different situation for me but you reminded me of the time when I had this crush on a girl on sketch comedy show that was on PBS (we were both 17), and she came up to me at a concert and asked if my name was "FauxReal" and I was shocked that she knew that and that I was in a local band. That’s rough, buddy
That's so great. One of my favourite series ever.
Dude be like: Gas Station book series?!? I'm the one that put it in crates!!!
Upvote for Gas Station Jack.
I'm just imagining someone seeing a book in one of your pictures and finding out it was ghostwritten then furiously studying said book only to give subtle hints that lead to you suggesting the book so they could know enough about it to claim they wrote it to get a date
This would be absolutely HILARIOUS. The book was so niche and weird tho that I’m pretty sure he was telling the truth!
Would being extremely niche and weird make my scenario more likely?
That person could not have asked for a better tee up lol I'll bet ot was a good date.
It shows you have good taste!
Was it Discworld?
call me crazy but I don't think Pratchett is using dating apps
He is emailing randos and helping them with Oblivion mods, though, so it's not too far out of the realm of believability.
he's also some 10 years dead, which I feel makes it somewhat less likely as well
I'm sure the Ghost of Terry Pratchett would still get swipes.
I certainly would lol
My stats teacher in high school recommended Angels and Demons to Dan Brown, and only realized who she had talked to after he left and she saw his picture in the author bio
What are the odds??
50/50 it's either Dan Brown or it's not.
"Never tell me the chance"
Sometimes.

I sent a screenshot to my local FB group yesterday and saw it stolen in my Reddit feed today. Felt like a celebrity.
But doctor...I am Pagliacci.
Haha beat me by 3 minutes
Beat me by 7 hours.
Beat me by another 4
Came here to find this reply, was not disappointed
Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains.
I know who you are
To be fair, by just seeing his post I wouldn’t know that he is CG Drews. But a funny reaction by her so idgaf.
Edit: I was told the gender.
Although her profile picture is a CG Drew’s cover. So it indicates she at least already knew about the author.
It’s possible that she changed her profile picture after this interaction, though
Or that people just didn't notice, I frequently don't register pfps, I will see the general shape and colour and form an image of it in my mind without necessarily realising what it actually is.
Completely agree. I’m also the same with usernames, I don’t read them ahead of time but people here are always pointing them out in comments.
She. :-)
This so weirdly wholesome.
It’s the usage of “unfortunately” for me
She's still wheezing because of the moss in her ribs
That’ll do it
Well, hell, CG, write another book, then.
/s
That’s funny as hell because I read the quoted bit first and thought to myself “wow that sounds like ‘Let the Forest In’ by CG Drews” lmao
I had this same exact reaction lmao
Of course I know her. She is me.
“Everybody told me that I’d like to read CG Drews. Probably because I am CG Drews.”
Root Rot is good for this.
So good!
I'd be wondering what it would be like to read my own books as though for the first time LOL

I should make a list so that if I get one of the bad diseases later I can just go down it and read/watch all my favourites for the first time again.
Peak Pagliachi posting
You should check out the great clown Pagliocci
Incredible.
Another good author for that vibe is Jeff Vandermeer
T. Kingfisher
Pagliacci-ass clown
I only just got recommended this sub but based on what I’ve seen so far, a “But I am Pagliacci” post flair would be well received.
should change his name to CG Writes to avoid further confusion
a) CG Drews is female and b) she got internet-famous as a book influence called paperfury before she started publishing as CG Drews. So paperfury is a crucial part of her brand
bro got Pagliacci'd
This guy has some "I am Pagliacci" energy and I am here for it.
Interesting
Cottagevore. I eat the thing they warn me about (I'm a hunter (this is just real life))
Never lucky
I remember a horror story creepcast covered that was kinda like his aesthetic, but I can't remember its name for the life of me. (The one of the wendigo girl who tries to get some kid with a helpless family to eat human meat or something)
And Pagliacci returns!
reminds me a bit of Liches Get Stitches
"Everybody says I look like CG Drews. Probably because I am CG Drews."
Damnit, I get that reference
This is so funny to me 😭
Well, if he's sad, he should go see the great clown Pagliacci.
So basically he wants Hozier in novel form?
With no context on who they are or how good the writing is, and with them saying "unfortunately I am CG Drews", this looks like a r/suicidebywords
unfortunately you have completely misunderstood a sense of humor
Unfortunately, you have completely misunderstood what explaining another perspective is.
That post screams main character energy honestly
how?
In what way? They had people suggesting their own books to them and pointed out who they were.
If this happened to me, I would post it.
Everyone is the main character of their own lives. Main character energy is when you fail to recognize that this is the case for others as well as yourself.
“chat is posting on social media main character energy?”
🙄
She's not the main character she's the author, keep up.
That's kinda the whole point of this sub, that someone doesn't realize who they're talking to and are humbled.
