Not to agree with that commenter, but i could imagine an embarrassing situation if you never figured out the truth as an adult (happened to me about different health myths)
If you don’t figure out Santa isn’t real by the time you’re an adult either your parents spoil you or you genuinely must be certified stupid.
Like do you never have to gift anyone anything for Christmas? I’m genuinely convinced it’s impossible to believe Santa is real as an adult without suffering from some kind of handicap.
Heck not even eight year old me believed in Santa “because that can’t be profitable” then again my dream job was casino owner so who knows
I'm not saying it's horrible to tell your kids about Santa, but I'd frame it as a role-playing game (in the original sense of those words). Because while it can be fun...
My first indication that my parents will and can lie to me was because of the Santa thing. Kids aren't stupid, and while I had a great relationship with my parents, it made me doubt their words just that bit extra for years. And given it was all adults? Mistrusting adults other than my parents became a thing too (beyond basic stranger danger) And I was very confused.
If they'd done it as a "let's pretend" type game I'd have had way more fun without the trust issues.
....who eventually grow out of it and dont mind because their parents are still going out of their way to celebrate a holiday and buy them nice things anyways.
why the fuck do you want to take happieness away from children? the world is nothing but endless suffering as it is why do you ant to destroy this one fucking shred of joy?? you sick fucking bastard, i hate you
Happiness built on lies isn't happiness. It is a growing bubble of disappointment waiting to pop. All of the joy of christmas can be had without having to convince children that it is actually real
Deliberately making Christmas feel like actual magic to actual children... I'm horrible... Tell me you're a miserable person without telling me you're a miserable person.
You'd rather leak misery into the lives of everybody than preserve the most magical part of a child's life.
My family doesn’t even celebrate Christmas (Muslims are funny like that), and I threatened my kids with unimaginable emotional suffering if they told kids in school that Santa wasn’t real.
It’s just not cool to do that, and believing in Santa doesn’t hurt anyone.
Regardless of the DDOI whoever did this clearly wasn’t loved as a child. Why would you ruin the magic of Christmas for children. What a hateful world we live in.
Kinda wild that someone woke up and decided yeah this is the hill Im gonna die on today. Like dude just let kids have some fun, nobodys getting brainwashed by Santa lol
That’s just petty, let kids have fun. Reminds me of atheists who shit all over someone who wants to think a dead relative is in heaven (I’m an atheist too but..don’t be an asshole to people man)
I agree with the bottom two but the top two were similar enough in colour that when I first read it I read across. Maybe your screen has higher contrast lol
This is a mean and shitty thing to do but for everyone saying that kids don't mind: I honestly felt kind of betrayed when I found out and I'm still slightly bitter about it. I am probably weird.
Regardless, it's just weird that someone would think this is something worth protesting
They probably post a similar sign around Easter.
Religious fundies who only want people to believe in one imaginary friend
I not religious. I just didn't like the lying to kids aspect
Do you tell them that they have free will?
I've solved this problem by not procreating. But ideally, no I would not
This guy gets it. Screw you guys
LMAO
100%
i tought it was a political compass lmao
If thats true, why are the milk and cookies I put out for him all gone? Checkmate!!!
what a hateful peace of shit, why spend so mutch energy makng children miserable,
That's the parents' fault for deliberately perpetuating a lie.
Chill out. How many people do you know have their lives ruined because they believed in santa as a child?

Asshole detected, opinion rejected.

r/iam14andthisisdeep kind of comment lol
Found the miserable twat who made the DDOI sign, folks.
I actually 100% agree

You do realize all religions are made up, too? God isn't real and I can prove it.
Kids with fuckin cancer. Dying.
God's plan? Fuck him if thats his plan.
i had no idea it was that serious 😭
It’s not
exactly!! i dont get why he’s making such a big deal out of it

The fact that you put TW sent me 😂
Regardless of the DDOI whoever did this clearly wasn’t loved as a child. Why would you ruin the magic of Christmas for children. What a hateful world we live in.
Don’t want to ruin the magic of Christmas for any adult redditors, you know? 😭
Yes 100% this person is a miserable asshole LOL
Damn straight! 🎅🏻 I think the magic needs to be kept up in daily life so people with banners and angry faces don’t do this kind of assholery 😂
Kinda wild that someone woke up and decided yeah this is the hill Im gonna die on today. Like dude just let kids have some fun, nobodys getting brainwashed by Santa lol
This is the longest one I've seen
Wait, so if Santa isn't real, and my parents are Santa... does that mean my parents aren't real? 😨😨😨
Honestly this feels like someone woke up and chose chaos just to ruin kids days. Wild that people think this is worth protesting tbh
That’s just petty, let kids have fun. Reminds me of atheists who shit all over someone who wants to think a dead relative is in heaven (I’m an atheist too but..don’t be an asshole to people man)
I hate whoever made that sign. LET PEOPLE HAVE THEIR WIMSY IN PEACE
8 9!
Eh, i read it just fine due to the multicolored backgrounds
I agree with the bottom two but the top two were similar enough in colour that when I first read it I read across. Maybe your screen has higher contrast lol
Yeah exactly. This doesn’t really fit in this sub. They ate very clearly four different segments.
This is a mean and shitty thing to do but for everyone saying that kids don't mind: I honestly felt kind of betrayed when I found out and I'm still slightly bitter about it. I am probably weird.
No, this is normal, lying to your kids about the nature of reality is bad even if it seems innocuous. There are stufies on this.
The bottom two actually make sense if read left to right
Who puts “TW” on the most mundane shit ever
Didn’t want to trigger redditors who thought Santa was real
Surprised the window is still in a single piece.
If Santa isn't real, how are my parents Santa? 🤔
