My 116lb hippo/mastiff mix, Oso. Adopted at 3 yrs old and 4 yrs later he still acts like a puppy!

  • Beautiful boy

    Oso thanks you!

  • What a beautiful baby you have!

Thank you! He's a handful but he's my handful. I love him.

He looks like a lot of doggy and I have a 30lb handful of a corgi so I know kind of how it can be :)

Right? Clipping his nails is quite the task. Let's be honest, pound for pound, they are stronger than we are! By the way, Corgis are sooo cute!

Oh good luck clipping mine goes into the local groomers who knew her since my corgi was a pup, they have the following notes "muzzle and use baby talk" LOL, Clipping is a challenge, that's why I take mine in, best of luck!!

My vet actually had to sedate poor Oso to clip his nails before I started trying to do it myself. When the vet tried touching his ears (for cleaning a yeast infection) or his paws he'd start deep barking at the vet tech. They tried a basket muzzle but Oso was able to get it off his head within 30 seconds. He now lets me q tip his ear canals and puts up with me clipping his 18 toenails. It's taken nearly 3 yrs but he seems to accept his grooming! YAY!

Wow, he's a beast who only lets the most trusted pawrents do his beauty routines, well done! I would learn to groom my girl if I can but summer/spring/fall walks on the concrete and occasional groomer visit is enough. She's good for her ears, let me do it, but her paws we've never had to learn, as she's been a sensitive bunny. You should see the "what for" she gives you if you accidentally almost step on her little paws.

    Here is Abbi BTW

Awww, Abbi is a beautiful Corgi! She looks like a little snuggler. I'm a bit biased though as I like dogs better than 90% of humans I meet (I work residential and commercial construction). As for the paws... When my boy pushes under the covers I would be reading a book or watching a movie and would constantly, gently squeeze his paws, spead his frito toes, and rub his pads. He now just gets nervous when the nail clippers come out. He is letting me clip them now though. With rescues, patience is key. Give Abbi a big kiss on the head from me please!

Thank you very much Oso is very handsome, she often puts he paw in my hand and I grab them and hold them it's so nice. I'm so happy you are such a dog whisperer!! Give Oso the most love and a kiss from me too, you guys are so bonded and t hat's soo soo wonderful, what a wonderful life he must have!! Have the best times together!

  • Toe socks

I find it interesting how many hippos have toe socks.
