Dogecoin is never going to become everyday money at places like supermarkets, Starbucks, or McDonald’s.
The main issue is speed for in-person payments. Blocks take about 1 minute on average, and for a payment to feel safe, merchants usually wait for at least 1-2 confirmations—that’s already 1-3 minutes of waiting. Picture the checkout line: the person in front of you pays with Doge, and everyone has to stand there waiting for the blockchain to confirm. Customers get annoyed, some walk away, employees get stressed—it’s a huge loss for the store. No big chain will accept that when credit cards or contactless settle in 2 seconds.
(For online payments, sure, the wait isn’t as big a deal—you can confirm later or accept zero-conf for low-risk stuff. But even there, big companies prefer faster, more predictable options.)
Another thing: most wallets right now are still pretty complicated. Tiny QR codes, typing PINs, waiting for confirmations… It’s okay for younger people, but imagine a 70-year-old trying to use that at the grocery checkout. The line would stop completely, errors would happen, and the store would lose sale after sale.
And about the “Family Mode” idea to teach kids with Dogecoin: hiding the fiat value doesn’t change the fact that the price swings wildly. A kid thinks they have some “safe money” saved up, then suddenly it drops 40% in a few months (it’s happened many times). That’s not financial education—that’s teaching them how frustrating it is when money just disappears.
One more thing: saying stuff like “I hope it goes to zero” to anyone who’s just tired of the downtrend doesn’t help Dogecoin, the community, the devs, or the adoption you want so badly. Quite the opposite—it pushes people away. Stop acting like a kid, or no one will ever take you seriously. Or was that post about teaching children with Doge actually meant for yourself?
Dogecoin is fun, has an amazing community, and works great for tips, donations, and memes. What do you think about focusing on what Doge actually does best, instead of trying to turn it into something its tech just can’t handle?
The new doge OS is launching next year
It’s supposed to give faster transaction speeds
Possibly it will be bullish news for retailers and investors to get behind. You def hit the nail on the head with your take on people waiting on a line to pay for stuff and wait
Maybe if you can pay for a house in doge coin and don’t mind waiting 5 min for the transaction to go thru in your lawyers office or something lol
Maybe with this new OS it’s what Elon is waiting for to add it for Tesla and X money
Lets be real, last 2 (maybe 3 if you want to count when he bought Twitter) pumps were more or less on the back of him
Crypto market is stale and fear now. No new Money
The doge coin ETF’s were a waste of time
A simple idea to help adoption: big chains like Starbucks, McDonald’s or supermarkets could add a few dedicated self-checkout machines just for crypto payments.
You’d tap your phone (NFC with fingerprint/face ID for security), connect the wallet safely, and the exact amount gets deducted automatically—like Apple Pay or contactless card. The machine waits for confirmation in the background while you finish up, so it doesn’t hold up the regular lines.
It would be an easy first step:
• No delays for normal customers
• Crypto users get a fast, smooth experience
• Stores attract people who prefer paying with Doge/crypto and get a nice sales boost + marketing buzz (“We accept crypto!”)
Low risk for the chains (just a couple extra machines to test), but it could bring new customers and real-world use.
Dogecoin, in reality, is an eloquent system for disposing of money without any real benefit to anyone. It’s like a casino without the fun. It gives you the feeling that you’re buying something decent, but instead it delivers anticipation, endless waiting, and false hope. In the end, it leads to self-deception and a tremendous surge of gambling addiction.. running through your blood, your head, your heart, your gut, and even your spirit.
Say their grandparents buy them $100 worth of doge coin and set up a wallet for them etc etc
3 months later they want to go and buy something they seen for $50 but the price of doge is down 40%
They will be expecting to have $100 in doge coin to spend but in reality it’s now worth $60
No fun and cartoons in that for a 5 year old or whatever age the child maybe
The problem is that gamblers only understand "money" as fiat and everything else is just a way to gamble fiat. Nothing you will tell a gambling addict will allow them to understand that their addiction is the problem.

You sound professional and you should be on the board for the “house of doge”

So they teaching kids at a young age about gambling and being in debt?
No, teaching kids how to use Dogecoin as a currency.
That's why I released this Family Dogecoin Wallet mode on the Dogecoin Wallet Client here DogecoinWallet.org to let kids know how to use it
I hear ya and respect what you doing but at the same time you also need to teach them about the risk of it
(Not you) but this picture just screams propaganda lol Cartoons about doge coin and money Like it’s all fun and safe
what risk? can you elaborate?
That the value of it will go down
Say their grandparents buy them $100 worth of doge coin and set up a wallet for them etc etc
3 months later they want to go and buy something they seen for $50 but the price of doge is down 40% They will be expecting to have $100 in doge coin to spend but in reality it’s now worth $60

no, that's the wrong way to educate.
if the grandparents give them 100 Doge (not fiat) they will always have the same value that is 100 Doge.
They will buy on stores that accepts Doge and they only see the Doge currency not fiat value of it.
A currency must be seen as it is not how much it is in Euros, Dollars Pounds etc.
Even so, the wallet Client automatically displays the fiat currency of their country by default, people must not relate as a gambling.
A Currency must be used and spent not hold in the false hopes of making more fiat
At least that's my personal view on how Doge direction must be :)
The problem is that gamblers only understand "money" as fiat and everything else is just a way to gamble fiat. Nothing you will tell a gambling addict will allow them to understand that their addiction is the problem.
not wrong 😅
Exactly.
Not different from teaching them about fiat...
If you are a gambling addict, you'll gamble on anything, even currencies.
