I have went cold turkey about 2 days ago to foxus on my upcoming exams and i feel terribly lonely.. i think cutting off dopamine junk has made it apparent i was always lonely..and axial media ans youtube just numbed it down.
Anyone else felt the same qay after quitting?
My family sucks and i dont have any friends in real life either haha
You’re able to notice this now without the fake socialization you were getting from social media. Social connection is a need for humans, we thrive in community and connecting with other people. Once the dust settles a little bit it might be useful to find a way to connect with other people without social media. Clubs, sports, reading groups, or other school groups can be helpful! You won’t be in school forever though, so finding a way to socialize outside of school is a great idea too. I’m glad you’ve created the space in your life to be able to build real life relationships, and you should be proud that you’ve done that for yourself as well
I think this is actually an amazing realization. Now you can focus your energy on building a chosen community, even if that takes more effort, it will be more rewarding in the long run
It’s going to feel like that for a while. Because your brain wants validation and distractions, entertainment. Maybe study for your exams in a public space with other people around or organize a study group with people you don’t know to try and make friends.

This is really common, don’t give up! Remember what you had were not real connections. Those ones are in the real world, not online.
It can be brutal. When you are used to the dopamine hit, everything else can feel flat and boring. Dopamine withdrawal is an awful thing. Former meth users have an overall relapse rate of 88-92% at least once during their recovery. While not at the same level, you are dealing with some powerful neurochemical stuff here. You are already doing amazing being two days out. It will get better, so hang in there.
Super rough this time of year, more people are lonely than not, but most get to numb themselves. Good job for not doing that. I turned of my phone and took a long walk to a bookstore and the book Dopamine Nation practically jumped off the shelf at me. It was just what I needed, I read it standing up. Maybe go out to one yourself and see. Smile wryly at the staff and ask them if they carry Dopamine Nation, make chit chat about your detox. Maybe someone will encourage you.
Excercise for natural dopamine, the real natural highs everyone gets high for is found in Excercise, basic jumping jacks, pull ups, sit ups, stretching, running in place. Five minutes total per day. And you'll get the oxygen flowing, exhaling the depleted oxygen aka CO2, and you'll feel refreshed and invigorated, as well as actually tired come night time.
