I have a bad habit of using my phone in bed last thing before going to sleep, and first thing in the morning.
I want to stop this and just leave my phone in another room altogether. My only issue is that I have to be oncall for work and therefore need to hear it ring at night.
Is there some kind of device or system that can alert me somehow if my phone rings in another room?
I have considered an Apple Watch but I don’t really want to get another smart device for what seems like a small requirement.
TIA
Get a dumb phone and redirect calls to it at night
This!
I like this idea, but most of the calls come from WhatsApp. Not sure if it's possible to redirect them
In this case a smart watch is probably your best bet, as much as you don't want to do it.
I know there are smartphones with very limited functionality (I.e. just Whatsapp and telegram). I am not sure if you can use the same WhatsApp login across two phones like you can across a phone and a laptop.
You can put it on do not disturb and create an exception to allow the work number to call.
If you need to be on call for work, have a separate work phone.
Use Downtime feature and only allow calls from work 24/7. I love the setting… have set my time limits to disable calls, text, and apps at 8:30p so I have at least an hour before bed with no phone, and no access to anything until 7:30 AM so I have plenty of time for my morning routine without the distraction of my device.
Connected Bluetooth/smart speaker should solve that issue as well.
Instead of on the nightstand, maybe on a table you can't reach from the bed? Plus it makes it difficult to hit snooze!
Smartwatch works for me. I hardly ever look at my phone since I've had it (and it's on mute apart from for calls).
most phones have these settings built in. automatic do not disturb mode that you can set to turn on at a certain time, and then you can set exceptions that will "break through" the do not disturb mode. look at your phone settings! i have a google pixel and it's under something called digital well being.
