This is my first holiday seasons diagnosed. My average BG since getting on meds is 118mg/dl. Since Thanksgiving my weekly averages have been steadily rising. Last week was 136mg/dl with 6 highs. It is becoming clear this thing will get out of hand fast if your not careful.
This is my first holiday season with a CGM (diagnosed 6 years ago) and completely agree. Thanksgiving pies, Christmas cookies, group lunches...and my wife is a great cook. I just need to eat fractions of things I like and keep my eyes on the prize (preservation of kidneys, eyesight and limbs).
I guess that's where I'm fortunate because it's summer here so it's usually cold meats and salads. Only 3 of us here this year so there's no point in cooking much more than that.
20 years diabetic. Managing it is a full time job
Me too, and few people understand. A caring family member who knows (maybe forgot) I am diabetic brought me groceries loaded with sugar. If I order a no sugar coke I may be served a regular Coke anyway. People generally do not read labels as we do. You have to be very careful.
