  • A few thoughts:

    • Milk and cream have sugar in them (lactose). One ounce of whole milk is enough to give me about a 20 mg/dL rise.

    • Coffee and tea have caffeine in them, which triggers your endocrine system to release cortisol, which signals your liver to metabolize stored glycogen into glucose. That can raise your BG too.

    • Caffeine also causes your capillaries to constrict, which can reduce overall blood circulation, and thus reduce your cells' ability to react to whatever insulin is in your bloodstream to metabolize BG.

    Thanks, that's what I leaned as well, I'm just wondering why it doesn't affect most people's bs. I'm wondering caffeine is just not a good drink for me...
