I'm relatively newly diagnosed and in always in here just gaining as much information as possible. I haven't started formally working out but I often get between 10k-15k steps a day from just walking at work and doing things around the house. I also bike to work about 1 mile each way.....about 30 mins in total commuting to work. Would that be a fair amount of activity to help with my blood sugar overall? I know I know I should be testing lol but I've changed my diet significantly I can't say it's perfect but definitely not just downing sugary snacks and drinks as before and if I do have fast food I stay away from the sides and try to eat half the breads or none. Big big change for me.... So any insight or help would be appreciated from the community. Thanks guy's and Happy Holidays to all who celebrate ✌🏽🙏🏽.

  • Exercise is very helpful but changing your diet is vital. If you are in the US the American Diabetic Association has a lot of info on diet and exercise.

  • That's a great start and movement absolutely helps with your blood sugars.

Now it's time to develop a regular glucose testing habit so that you can fine tune all these changes.

For example, one thing I realized from tracking my fasting glucose religiously every morning is that I can eat more carbs before I exercise than after. I also realized that a quick 15 minute walk after dinner is very powerful.

Testing gives you a data point to reflect on and also helps you find wins to celebrate.
