I had gestation diabetes 40+ years ago, so I have been getting yearly A1C testing for a number of years. This year it was 7.8, and my doctor said I could either go on Metformin or try Mounjaro. Since my A1C has always been directly related to my weight, I chose Mounjaro. I took my first 2.5mg jab last night. My fasting BG has been running around 160, and today it was 132. I had not expected it to take effect that fast. What has been the experience of others taking Mounjaro? Will my BG go even lower soon, or will it stay at about this level until I increase the dose? Oh, and so far no side effects except a bad tasting mouth. If you got side effects, how long until those showed up for you?
Everyone is different.
My glucose levels became non-diabetic (with fasting <100) with my first injection. I started with an A1C of 8.3.
I haven’t really had any bothersome side effects, except for feeling cold all the time.
I’ve been taking it for two years now.
My blood sugar was 450 at diagnosis. When I took mounjaro I saw numbers in the 90s within weeks. A1c from 13.8 to 4.9 in 9 months with 2.5 then 5mg MJ + 2000 mg metformin daily. But it’s so different for everyone!
Mine started coming down immediately
Mine took about a day. However, I really didn't notice it until the second day and then, yeah, like being hit by a truck. Waking up level went from 180 to 120. A1C went from 13 to 8. Switched to the 5 jab, a1C is now 6.5 after 2 weeks, wake up is around 100.
And again, the 2nd day hits the hardest.
It was basically overnight for me
