I'm visiting from out of state, where pen needles just openly sit up for grabs at any pharmacy or big box store. I'm now for three weeks in Pennsylvania and I couldn't find any needles at any store or pharmacy. Pennsylvania diabetics, where do y'all get needles locally? Thanks for helping a clueless dude out!

  • I head to walmart when i’m in desperate need of supplies, they also sell syringes in case of emergency

    $20 per 100 at walmart

  • Typically you can go to any local pharmacy and buy them over the counter. I have had to do this when I went out of state and my supply of pen needles were contaminated.

Never said any of that, if you read the information I provided it even states hypodermic needle. Since you're new to this a hypodermic needle is the needle tip of the syringe. Needles used for insulin pens are a specific type of hypodermic needle. So under New York law, provided even to you, you absolutely don't need an Rx for needles or syringes. Please don't put words into my mouth.

It says syringes AND needles meaning the hypodermics lol. The syringe is just the plunger, needle is what goes on the end. Insulin pen needles are literally defined as a type of hypodermic needle.

Here's another section specifically stating hypo. Even specifically states no restriction on the TYPE. Now there are a few caveats such as 10 or less, the pharmacy has to be registered for the program (so quite possible one you went to needed an Rx but it's not all).

And since having the ability to inject insulin can literally be the difference between life or death, if someone comes onto the sub claiming you absolutely unequivocally can't get this without a script, when in fact that's not true, is absolutely in need of correction. This is the type of false information that can get a new diabetic that comes on here killed.

I'm not reading all that but I'm happy for you, or sorry that happened to you. Move a long you've been proven wrong.

  • In PA, you can order them from Amazon at $9/100 or $15 for 200. Not all states do it. I sure do!

  • I live in NJ and when I had to inject I was able to order from Amazon but, I had to try a couple of different vendors to get one that would ship to NJ. If you haven't found a solution yet try Amazon again and try a few different vendors, you may luck out.
