Why isnt strawther playing like at all? He was so good in last year's playoffs I feel like he's a really talented and underated scorer.
He had an injury then got sick with that bug that made its way thru the locker room
Agreed, he needs reps and Adelman's confidence just yet
Okay no way the Chris Dempsey on r/nba is the real one
I am starting to wonder more and more if you really need a traditional pg to win in NBA. Tonight we saw AG, Pwat, even Spencer Jones bring the ball up. Obviously Picket and Bruce did too.
But the way how we defended tonight made me think of OKC last year. SGA is oversized pg (actually a guard playing pg) and a good defender. Having a 2 or 3 bring the ball up allows you more height on defense which allows a lot more switching, like we saw tonight. Obviously, for us it is even more so, because basically any offense that can shoot will work with Jok. Depth and defense really seem to be more critical than having a proper traditional pg. Even when Boston won, they had Brown (again oversized 2 playing pg, good defender) and Tatum bring the ball up.
The thing is that a “traditional point guard” really only means that they’re short. If you have good enough ball handling, passing vision, and IQ then you can simply be a point guard (offensively). Which is why we’ve seen big point guards dominate the NBA especially the past few years. The “average” small point guard is a thing of the past because of mismatch hunting in large part, you must be either big or exceptional to be a point in today’s NBA and have a positive effect on winning as a starter.
Magic Johnson was 6'10". A "traditional point guard" doesn't translate to "short", it means you're bringing the ball up, running the offense, distributing, etc on most possessions. What's changed over time is that, as this thread points out, you don't need 1 player to be doing that every possession (although when Jokic or Murray is on the court, they are usually filling that role) and they don't need to be a guard. But that's not even technically new... Wilt lead the league in assists as a center in 1967, Bill Walton could do it in the 70s, and Scottie Pippen was playing "point forward" in the 90s. But it has become more common.
Are you gonna sit here with a straight face and tell me that magic was a “traditional point guard”?
I mean, he's not traditional in the sense that he's the greatest ever and was flashier than many others (like Stockton). But for most his career he made his team contenders primarily through his playmaking. And it's not like being 6'10" made him a better defender.
We lost to the Hawks due to awful ball handling. Handsy teams will exploit the turnovers and possessions advantage
Also Rockets are now finding out the worth of PGs
Yea, someone said that one of San Antonio's big advantages is the many skilled guards - many ballhandlers.
I agree with you to an extent. But the Rockets issue is that Durent is not really a team creator, he is more of an isolation monster, and the rest of the guys are not that creative with exception to Sengun, who is less talented Nikola. We have an established culture of ball sharing and how guys move, we've been playing in this system for last 10 years. So I can see why Houston is struggling so much.
All I am saying is that maybe Spencer, CB, Pwat, AG with Jok could be a deadly five, which would allow Jamal to spend a lot more time with bench unit to give us even bigger advantage.
zeke freak > Greek freak
depressing i just realized we didn’t get killed on the boards tonight bc holmes didn’t play
wHy iSn'T AdDLedMaN pLaYiNg HoLmEs?!??
Holmes: Shoots two quick threes and disappears the rest of a game where Tractor is playing heavy minutes
So proud of this team!!
Nuggets missing 3 or more starters is the greatest team in the history of the league
Hoping AG rests next game. Don't need him reinjured
Yea rest him against the Pelicans and then have him play against the Mavs the next day would be my call
Oooft, didn't realise we had another b2b
And then another right after that
B2B B2B. The worst. There's 5 total this month. 6 in 32 days.
It sucks for most of the roster but the guys who are resting are gonna be so much fresher than they would otherwise be playing so many B2B’s. I’m looking forward to jokic in March beating the shit out of centers who’ve been gassed from the mid season slog.
Skelonuggets!
Zeke nnaji double double btw
So glad DA is the coach rather than Malone. Even with the terrible injuries, Malone would not be playing and developing the young players like this.
We went from a team with no depth to one of the deepest teams in the league in a matter of months.
So do you think Malone would be running a 4 man rotation or what
Yes
Tbf Malone would say shit like "we pray when Jokic sits."
Sure he'd play them but he didn't seem like he prioritized encouraging them.
You think the coach of a professional basketball team was not encouraging his players? Lol do you think he was telling the to play bad? Or telling them "who fucking cares go out there and do whatever you want it's worthless without Joky out there" or what lol
you must have not listened to his interviews. Malone has literally uttered these exact words
Yes that’s literally why he got fired
Sure, he had beef with the GM. There are various reports of stupid shenanigans between him and Booth and the players getting caught in the middle.
https://i.redd.it/36r2b9o2cvcg1.gif
so happy to be a fan of the nuggets! this is the type of team i like supporting. everyone just plays hard and we always want to win and have a shot at winning regardless of who we have playing or playing against!
PWat is a superstar
Doomers hate this one trick!!
Seriously, what are doomers doing right now? Are they going to the pound and adopting an extra puppy to drown this week? Are they moving out of their mom's basement?;
How are the doomers handling this stretch? That's what I'm worried about. Are they watching more fox news to compensate?
Go Nuggies! Fuck the doomers!!!
This is the way. This is Nuggets basketball. Get on or stfu and get out of the way!
They always disappear…this PGT has 500 comments. If we lost and Jamal and CB had a bad game it would be well over a 1k comments
Get their ass!
The doomers are whining about Malone and making tinder alt accounts to neg their sisters
Just watched the Nuggets highlights 11 times and I’m convinced Pickett is Prime Chris Paul mixed with prime Curry(Steph and not his brother)
The Nuggets look like they're 15 men deep. Can't believe we're so good missing on average 3 starters and 2 bench players a game.
I went to the game. This was my first Nuggets game in about 15 years, which was well before I even cared about the Nuggets. I'm a Philly transplant, but I follow the Nuggets now probably more than I do the 76ers. Great game to be at tonight. Crowd was great, game was great, I was not disappointed in any way.
I was at the game in Philly last week lol. I walked out of the arena with a huge grin on my face😁
Nuggets crowds are really top notch imo
In the box score, why is the total for Denver’s team rebounds listed as 57 rather than 45?
Looks like we have 45 rebounds and someone typo'd that.
Also that they have 44.
Typo? I didn’t think those posts were manually transcribed.
It's posted by a bot. Someone somewhere messed up though.
It’s gonna be a good year. We fixed the two biggest holes in our roster via injuries. We needed a backup PG that could drive/kick, added benefit of Pickett being an on floor defensive coordinator is huge too. Then, we needed a backup PF, Nnaji has been awesome obviously, and his chemistry with Pickett is great due to how well Nnaji slips screens and Pickett hits the thread/pocket pass.
10 day old ALT account. Grow up dude. Running around Reddit hiding behind alt names is weak.
Eat a bag of dicks. You ain't us.
We're taking notes. We will not forget.
Shut the fuck up with this "we" bullshit. The fuck makes you think you're on the team. There's no "we" here, just a sad asshole wanking into the void
There's nothing wrong with fans saying "we" when referring to the team. You see it all the time in Europe. It shows how close the fans are to the team.
Hey bro I really hope to never see you post here or anywhere else ever again
lol why?
I've noticed a consistency across Reddit posters. There's an abnormal amount of folks that have AD as part of their username and they tend to be agitators. I'm not sure what is going on, but I've noticed this for over a year. Something to track in my opinion. edit, it's not just this sub, but it's all sorts of various threads that I follow..politics, cities, states, sports...
Agitators? I’m here to talk about the nuggets. You guys constantly turn shit political. I never say shit unless I see dumb shit
I’m saying shit when I see dumb shit, aka “this person supports ice.”
Dumb shyt
I mean it's one of the words that goes into a randomly generated username. And people with random names tend to be bots/ agitators. I don't think there's anything specific to ad
why is it a word that goes into randomly generated usernames? Why AD, why not BC or some other combo of letters....I see it all the time, and almost always they are agitators, stir the pot types... The one we're talking about has like one post and joined the other day.
I'm pretty sure it's the word ad, like advertisement. I don't know the list but there are a bunch of short-ish words that are constantly used in those usernames. They're usually adjective-noun-numbers but it's always two words and then numbers
I think Zeke could even play backup center in certain playoff matchups if Val is getting cooked.
The worst part about this is that you’re gonna walk away from this event thinking “wow it’s so unfair people are mean to me because a mod labeled me” no bro, if people learn what kind of guy you are and they despise you, it is not the fault of the mod that told everyone who you are
fuck off nazi
I’m confused about what happened? Did the guy you replied to change his comment?
He very vocally supports ice
I was thinking, "why is this guy getting so much hate?"
Thank you for clarifying.
Thank you for explaining. Fuck ICE and anybody that supports them.
You’re a loser go post about tren de araguas or somethin lil bro
The conservatives aren't sending their best smh
Can we at least get Sydney Sweeney to post about zeke here instead of this guy
Idk if Sydney actively endorses ICE. We should get Taylor Swift to fill that role here. Imagine how excited Male storm would be
Last I heard the Sween stopped chudposting cuz they’re too broke
And to be fair it’s a match made in heaven, male stork and ice both love it when Americans get shot in the head
Listen Vlad, you gotta understand how important it is to just obey and not resist. Its the patriotic thing to do. We famously became a country by obeying and not resisting.
It is interesting how chill so many of those guys are with being shot in the head and neck area for what they believe in (unreasonable death)
You think if Ben Tenzer had been there that fateful day he could have plugged some holes and that YouTuber would still be with us??
Let’s just say I’m glad he had better things to do
Erika is also probably glad
Maybe he died for his wifes freedom to fuck whoever she pleases
True patriot
https://i.redd.it/06pv4pbbvucg1.gif
well done guys - congratulations 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you
Thank you force xxx 2002
Thank you! I put in the effort and stuck with the program every day.
Jalen Pickett snatching that rebound away from Myles Turner feels like a metaphor for how they’ve been winning games, just trying harder
Gonna get downvoted again but THJ should remain starter he makes us much more deadlier than Braun, And Braun defense wasn't impressive ,doesn't really make up for it. Any better guard dominates vs Braun anyway
You have to have played more games off the bench than starting ones, for the 6moty award.
Agree with the sentiment that THJ is generally more valuable to the team than CB. But here's the thing, THJ can contribute big offense even when Jokic isn't on the floor. CB, for all his flaws, knows how to play with Jokic to the point where his offense kinda relies on Jokic.
Nuggets need someone to get a lot of points with the bench unit. He's that guy. If he was playing with the starters, he would be getting fewer touches. Moving him to the starters would mean he gets fewer shot.
It's not a skill thing, it's maximizing players talents. Look at Manu.
Should Denver just fill the roster with Serbian national team?
Honestly that is best supporting cast Jokic ever had and salary cap will cover it . Trade for Bogi/Jovic shouldn't be too hard ,sign other players to NBA and that team honestly wins the ring .It has good depth , good backup bigs for Jokic ,synergy and also plenty of NBA experience in lots of players
Serbian nationalist team would probably sweep the thundeer in a best of 7 series just look at what they did to team usa they almost beat it and thuunder are much worse than them
Serbeans are smart and hard working
Not sure you're serious, but either way- Bogdan makes $16M a year, so to match that we'd have to trade something like Zeke, Holmes, Strawther, and Tyson, and then we'd need to sign 3 minimum salary free agents immediately. I think this would push us into the 1st apron as a result of the new signings.
For Jovic it's basically impossible because Jovic is currently on a rookie deal but signed an extension putting him on a "poison pill" contract, meaning:
Look at this CBA nerd over here
Least insane weeb
Don't forget immense bbiq
And they play really hard on defense
Idk, I feel like coach knows what he's doing basically never starting Tim. He's playing heavy minutes, and performing incredibly well, I see no issue with that.
I also think CB works great with Jok, if you play him with the bench he kinda loses value, Tim can play with anyone.
You’re gonna get downvoted cuz you’re wrong, both is general point and also specific aspects
THJ is doing wonders for my EQ
Put the of in bio
Don't act like you're not already my top donor
Adelman really brings the best out of these players.
I am now fully convinced that Michael Malone is just a Tom Thibodeau with a ring.
only reason we won a championship was jokic played less than 70 regular season games that year due to injuries. Malone has 0 plans when jokic was in the bench. biggest jokic merchant
Didn't Malone bring out the best out of CB and Bruce Brown? 🤔🤔🤔
If Adelman were coach when Hartenstein were here the nuggets would be on a 400+ game win streak
If they also had Jay Huff and Jarred Vanderbilt they'd be on a 4000000+ game win streak
If the Nuggets had Micheal Jordan, LeBron James, Steph Curry and Bill Russell on immortal mode they would never have lost a game
In addition to the sentiment of why bring someone else down to lift up another, who's to say Adelman isnt the coach he is without learning from Moach? (He likely isnt)
If Tom Thibodeau had a ring he'd be viewed as a pretty great coach.
He's a great floor raiser
I’m fully convinced you don’t know how to enjoy something without thinking something else is bad
What I'm saying it the truth. We could've been the one facing the Pacers last year if Pickett, Zeke, Jones, and Tyson weren't viewed as unplayable.
https://i.redd.it/bjfiwjvvuucg1.gif
Oh, just saw your post history, you’re a weeb
Got it no more questions
Uh yeah no you’re not speaking the truth but that’s ok I’m sure nothing I can say will shake you from your delusions
Like is it this hard for so many people to accept that Malone was great for that era and adelman has been great for this era and just be pleased we got a chip and still have a good coach?
Yall gotta find something to be negative about to unlock enough dopamine for your fried ass receptors to feel a flicker of something?
Zeke +22, only behind Tim Make Me Hardaway's +27. Zeke's length and strength was disruptive and a wonderful 1-2 punch with Spencer making Greek Freak only look slightly superhuman.
It's crazy to me how concerned people are about how good a point guard is on defense when right now across the league there's so many teams that are absolutely starved of point guard play and how good some of these teams would get if they actually got good point guard play
So you're saying we should trade for Trae. Got it
I'm saying those teams should trade for Trae
I’d love to have Trae here lol
We’d average 200 a night
and give up 250
I was thinking recently about how people used to complain about Jamal's defense and I tried to come up with 10 starting PGs who were clearly better on defense than he is and it was surprisingly difficult. Not a lot of starting pgs who are good on defense in the league right now.
Steph kinda ruined the position imo
Zeke was absolutely incredible tonight. Might have been the second best player on the floor givne his defensive impact. Giannis was getting whatever he wanted unless Zeke was out there.
Really impressed! Good for zeke
I was always a Zeke-Stan.
The most shocking thing about this deep bench surge is strawther not taking part. What the heck is going on with him. He looked serviceable albeit with a case of the reach ins. But he's been unplayable
3pt shooting requires rhythm and confidence. To get into match rhythm and to build confidence player has to play regularly.
To get opportunity to play player that is there to shoot 3s has to hit them in his limited minutes and attempts.
So its a catch22..
Kind of a shoot 22 too
He's just not very good. Too loose of a handle to be relied on as a ball handler. Not a shooter (career 32% from 3 and just 18% this season). Not a defender by any stretch.
In theory he's a decently sized guard that can be a microwave scorer via a quick release from 3, and a nice floater when he drives. None of that has panned out though, and we've only seen bursts of potential here and there from him.
But to be fair to him, it sounds like there's a bad flu that has hit the locker room and is likely the reason coach hasn't turned to him.
He has a case of the Bones Hylanditis
Cte
So a bunch of people keep saying that Kroenke said this summer that we'd never go into the second apron re: PWat, which I vaguely remembered being the vibe of that press conference, but I looked up the actual quote and he kind of didn't say that at all.
Had a feeling the rockets were going to struggle after the new year. They've had the lightest schedule to date, playing like 1 b2b until January. When you're completely reliant on the performance of KD, just more games are going to kill you.
Imagine losing to the Dennis Schroder-less Kangz
Imagine losing to the Dennis Schroder-ful Kangz
ughhhh
[deleted]
This comment isn't about the game what is happening?
There were 400 comments about the game buddy
I guess I checked at the wrong time I scrolled for like a minute and only saw comments about the rockets, it’s much more normal now somehow.
Well the rockets are theoretically our competitors and their game just ended
My favorite part of the game was the part where we won.
We are onto bigger and better things now
Time to lock in* for New Orleans.
* acquire Zeke's French toast
Fred Vanvleet is so good man
Of only the Rockets had him, then surely they would be a top 3 seed
Who wants to start a religion that worships Adelman?
I'll provide Kool Aid
Adelmanson family
A-delulu-lemon
Lifelong Adelmormon here
💀💀
Alperen is pretty much exactly like Jokic if Jokic was smaller, not as strong, not as good of a rebounder or passer, and far less efficient. Otherwise they're basically identical players.
And much much bitchier.
Also way worse a shooter from >10ft.
Turkish Wemby
Jusuf Turkić
I've said it before and I'll say it again. he's like if Nikola Jokic was Jusuf Nurkic
He's what would happen if the dudes that are like yeah you should just surround Joky with a bunch of defenders they'll still be good enough on offense got their wishes done lol
You left off the crying to the officials after every bad play and having the same running motion as a toddler.
Full diaper run
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rockets with the durant effect
Is Durant Effect losing?
nah but his team is in a weird position and their chemistry not looking good, just like phoenix and BKN when he was there
Hey, don't forget he was FAMOUSLY at odds with Russ in OKC and Draymond
To make this win even better the rockets just lost to the kings !!
Rockets in a super weird stretch.
It's about to get even more weird when KD requests a trade to the Thunder.
The prodigal son returns
Gained a game on the Rockets and Spurs tonight. Hell yeah! (Minny isn't really a threat for a top 3 seed imo)
LIGHT DA BEEEAAAAMM
Nah ik Durant is pissed 😂😂😂
Crazy how this top10 all time player keeps taking Ls on every incredibly stacked team but the Warriors 😬😬😬😬

Pretty crazy that Jok has missed 8 games and Jamal 3 during that stretch and Nuggs haven't moved in the standings. Pretty amazing job by the entire team and coaching staff.
if the celtics didn't blow the lead to the spurs late in the game yesterday, nuggs would be tied for 2nd, that's insane given the situation
If we didn't lose 5 two-possession games to bad teams at the start of the season, we'd be 3 games ahead of 3rd.
Let’s go get fucked schmockets
Yes kings
Somebody on r / nba said Zeke looks like a perineal all defensive big and that is perhaps the greatest typo I have ever seent on this website
It's time to get freaky with Zekey!
It’s good cuz I definitely need help defending my perineum
Don’t we all, Vladimir. Don’t we all.
This other top teams in the west all choosing to take L's during the Nuggets hospital period is just... *chefs kiss. We might be cruising in 2nd when Jok and co are all back healthy ahaha
so can someone tell me what the chances of us keeping Pwat is? like what if we're able to trade Nnaji and Strawther? I feel like the past few games have given him some trade value.
vibes are too good for a trade.
no trades this season. ride the wave, wait for jokic and get that championship trophy
Very low if he keeps ballin' because he's gonna get the brinks truck somewhere else and nuggets can't/won't match it.
It’s hard to know
But technically we can pay him whatever it takes to keep him
I am seriously wondering now if signing Braun was the lesser of the two.
I think if you take, what, 30 games over brauns entire body of performance there is nothing I can do to help you
