I don't know, tbh. For example, on desktop, you can apparently use Pidgin, which is like an all in one messaging app that works with basically everything. They have plugins for different services you can connect to and there seems to be one that connects to the What's App protocol.
I don't know if it actually works currently or what, but if it works in desktop, why hasn't anybody made an app? Maybe Meta would sue them or something?
there are some privacy focused whatsapp apps that comes with extra features, but that's a fast ban if you used them, i've been using one with my old number, and i got banned, i guess that's why people stopped making modded whatsapp apps
I don't necessarily mean those modded APKs you see floating around, I mean a whole other app. Using that example, someone has written a library that talks to the WhatsApp protocol through their API, so it must be possible. But I've never really looked in it.
I did also see a wrapper for WhatsApp over the web on F-Droid. But, I'm very curious why no one is using a library like this to make one.
I went down a bit of a rabbit hole looking for something like this and came across this, called Beeper. It lets you connect to all sorts of different messaging apps, including WhatsApp and other social media.
It's apparently owned by Automattic, the company that runs Wordpress.
Now I remember where I had heard of this! They were trying to let users spoof the iOS message bubble on SMS by having like 500 Mac Minis or something that let users seem like they were on Apple devices, but they eventually got cut off.
I just made a new post about it. I think it's probably worth other people looking into! You can also self host, they say in their FAQ, but it looks a bit more complicated than the average stuff.
Did it go smoothly? When I put Graphene OS on my Pixel 6a it was a bit maybe racking, some of the steps were a bit confusing, but I felt confident enough to put it on my brand new 9a.
Google is changing it's Android deployment on Pixels sometime fairly soon, so it may be curtains for Graphene, but I hope not. Otherwise my next phone will have to be a Samsung.
Pretty smooth so far, i had some issue with signature spoofing in the beginning because the galaxy S8 is not officially supported by neither /e/os and lineageos but i solved it, if you're thinking about getting a new phone and lineageos on it check if it's supported from the website
Get rid of the official F-Droid app and use a more modern F-Droid client such as Droid-ify (which is what I use) or the Neo Store, reason being that they use a more modern Material You design and are not based on the fairly ancient codebase of the official F-Droid app, which is kind of a security issue (see bullet point 4 here): https://privsec.dev/posts/android/f-droid-security-issues/
Yeah the point just is that the official F-Droid app is a bit ancient by now, it needs a significant rewrite to modernize it. If it works for you though then good for you, it was just a suggestion.
CoMaps > Organic Maps.
Can't you use WhatsApp through 3rd party clients or no?
like a webapp ?

Apple responds to the Beeper iMessage saga: ‘We took steps to protect our users’ (The Verge)
But, it currently supports WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Signal, Discord, Slack, and social platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
I can't insert an image, but here is a spreadsheet of all the clients they support and what features are fully/partially/not supported.

i just installed it pretty good !!

I mean with me it just displays a "security threat detected" message after a minute or two and closes the app.
Is your phone rooted ?

That why i guess

Nice setup.

I'm not a fan of Droid-ify but i'll give Neo-store a shot
