I see a lot of people post their "deGoogled" phones here and all they've done is replace Chrome. You actually committed, though. This took time and effort. Respect.
If you're taking advice, the only thing left to do to strip out the last vestiges is remove the Wallet. I understand if you don't - it is convenient. But hey, you've come this far and it's not that much harder to switch back to a card, right?

Riigght riightt. Not too hard. I might uninstall it. I will see.
You could always switch to Samsung Wallet. It probably doesn't respect your privacy any more than Google does, but if you REALLY wanted to "technically" degoogle, then that is an option
Well it's a fork of bunny and in bunny you needed to install a plugin for it and you installed plugins with links so here's the link to the no track plugin https://maisymoe.github.io/strife/NoTrack/
Please do, I only joined this sub recently and am fully googled. Just dipping my toes into the information at the moment. EDIT: LOL,just saw you did put up another post. Cheers buddy 😃
Get rid of the official F-Droid app and use a more modern F-Droid client such as Droid-ify (which is what I use) or the Neo Store, reason being that they use a more modern Material You design and are not based on the fairly ancient codebase of the official F-Droid app, which is kind of a security issue (see bullet point 4 here): https://privsec.dev/posts/android/f-droid-security-issues/
Get rid of the official Reddit app, and use an open source and ad-free alternative. RedReader works out of the box.
I would think twice about Zoho Mail; no anonymous sign-up, no encrypted inbox. Might as well use Google then. Here is a comparison table of various e-mail providers and other cloud services: https://eylenburg.github.io/cloud_comparison.htm
Which custom ROM are you running? Any major issues with banking apps or SafetyNet? Would really appreciate a quick guide or the main steps you followed. Thanks!
I personally stopped using their products (was only using ProtonVPN to be fair) after that. I won't get into it here, but I was surprised there wasn't more backlash from it. I'm sure the service itself is still fine, but the glazing of an administration that has made it very clear they do not respect the privacy of their citizens and are fine with accelerating mass surveillance to a level we haven't seen before personally makes me distrust how they are handling my data
Hey, your post is awesome! I have a rather specific question. I'm probably going to switch to a Google Pixel soon to install Graphene OS, so what's the difference? Because if I switch to a Google Pixel, I'm not going to bother following your tutorial on my S23 just to resell it afterward. Thanks for clarifying this for me.
I've often wished that Samsung would make their own Google-free version of OneUI. Their own store already has most apps and they are a big enough player that they could probably do it.
Wait guys isn’t the whole operating system (Android) made by google?
Then I guess you can’t fully DeGoogle an Android device.
And IOS does its own spying.

Hey! Thank a lot of that comment.

My main goal is to get rid of bloatware and big tech stuff. So this option is meh for me.
But thk!
Figured lol
You can use the secure folder feature since it is disconnected from the main os. I'm using it for apps that I need but also aren't privacy respecting
Yes, and cash is even better when it comes to privacy. Though the transition might take some time.
Can you make a post where you explain what it needs to do? 🥲
https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/1pudkax/tutorial_on_how_i_ungoogled_my_phone
Done!
Sure!
Replace discord with a modded client without tracking like aliucord
good advice 👌
I'm using Kettu, but I'm not sure does it also remove tracking
Well it's a fork of bunny and in bunny you needed to install a plugin for it and you installed plugins with links so here's the link to the no track plugin https://maisymoe.github.io/strife/NoTrack/
thanks man 🫶🏻
How the fuck did you do that, it is not impossible to root a Samsung phone? (Cause the eFuzes?)
I will do a tutorial soon :)
Much appreciated; have the same phone and i dig it but would love to degoogle
https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/1pudkax/tutorial_on_how_i_ungoogled_my_phone/
Is not useful for me, but hell, I wanna know how!

Yes you can.
I have the following suggestions to make:
Get rid of the official F-Droid app and use a more modern F-Droid client such as Droid-ify (which is what I use) or the Neo Store, reason being that they use a more modern Material You design and are not based on the fairly ancient codebase of the official F-Droid app, which is kind of a security issue (see bullet point 4 here): https://privsec.dev/posts/android/f-droid-security-issues/
Get rid of the official Reddit app, and use an open source and ad-free alternative. RedReader works out of the box.
Another suggestion would be to patch Infinity for Redddit with the ReVanced Manager using this guide: https://github.com/KobeW50/ReVanced-Documentation/blob/main/Reddit-Client-ID-Guide.md
Unfortunately, Reddit has terminated self-creating your own client ID on November 11th, 2025, so part 1 of that guide does not work anymore, however, there is a workaround: https://www.reddit.com/r/revancedapp/comments/1p5w18g/guide_how_to_use_reddit_clients_after_new_api/
I would think twice about Zoho Mail; no anonymous sign-up, no encrypted inbox. Might as well use Google then. Here is a comparison table of various e-mail providers and other cloud services: https://eylenburg.github.io/cloud_comparison.htm
Just a note on zoho, their privacy policy and data security recird is much better than most, excluding encrypted services.
Do you really need X and Google Wallet?
Why 4 different browsers though?
why do you need termius tho? termux is enough imo
Discord: use Aliucord (removes some spying), Vendroid or Discord website
Reddit: use website, frontend or third party client
Shazam: if possibile, you can replace it with Audile
Spotify: use alternative (Tidal, Deezer, Soundcloud, Bandcamp), Spotify website or BiniLossless
Twitter: use website or Nitter
Which custom ROM are you running? Any major issues with banking apps or SafetyNet? Would really appreciate a quick guide or the main steps you followed. Thanks!
I basically use OneUI. Also no major issues with banking apps and SafetyNet. I recently did a tutorial. So here is the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/1pudkax/tutorial_on_how_i_ungoogled_my_phone/
Enjoy un-googling yourself!
now de-proton
you mean de-digitalize?
anything I've missed regarding them?
Ceo made mid political comment, then may or may not have used a proton reddit account to make a very much stupider political comment.
I don’t think anyone claims they are unsafe to use, but there is definitely some shit going on up top.
Why?
Get rid of Samsung Wallet.
How about maps?
Can you tell me How you removed everything google related without breaking anything? I've mostly done and already have alternatives of everything.
Does Libre Tube get any updates ?
Hey, your post is awesome! I have a rather specific question. I'm probably going to switch to a Google Pixel soon to install Graphene OS, so what's the difference? I wonder what will happen when google enforces that only google verified apps are gonna be able to get installed on android device
how did you install termux? I can't find it in f-droid (S23).
It is on f-droid (https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.termux/). Otherwise, install the APK from official Github: https://github.com/termux/termux-app/releases/tag/v0.118.3
a question since this has been keeping me away from degoogling, how do you get notifications (like from discord) to work without google?
Why brave nightly not stable version?
What is privacy flip & privacy scanner?
Degoogled but google messages is still here xd
Did you remove Google Play Services?
I've often wished that Samsung would make their own Google-free version of OneUI. Their own store already has most apps and they are a big enough player that they could probably do it.
damn nice.
Why not you use Kreate or simp music instead of spotify?
Wait guys isn’t the whole operating system (Android) made by google? Then I guess you can’t fully DeGoogle an Android device. And IOS does its own spying.
Yes, the next step is to use Graphene OS but this is a very good start with what you have.
I know it's a good step, albeit, they own an s24. You cannot add custom roms on UI 8 due to bootloader not being there anymore
Damn, FUTO keyboard is impressive, not many people do that
