1) Your phone: Manufacturer, Model, Version or production details
2) What ROMs did you research?
3) Which ROMs did you install or attempt to install?
4) What problems have you encountered during the install?
5) What problems have you encountered after the install?
6) Why was the previous ROM insufficient to your needs? (If it was a DeGoogled ROM)

Hello. Honor 400 pro please?
T-Mobile variant OnePlus 10 Pro. I think the model number is NE2217. I have not been able to find an OS for it. I think they have them for the non T-Mobile versions. I read there might be problems using an OS for another variant.
I would like an educated guess if recently released Sony Xperia 10 VII will have custom ROM support or if there already is some. I have been using Sony Xperia 10 II with Sailfish OS for some years and would like to keep to Xperia phones because I'm hoping they will support the newer phones too eventually. Sailfish OS sometimes stops working and I would like to have a de-googled android to fall back on. I have tried an unofficial Lineage OS ROM on my 10 ii but it sadly had VoLTE problems.
Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon, running on Unofficial Lineage OS (vanilla ROM).
Galaxy A55 5G. No luck, so I'm just taking steps to degoogle, such as apps and whatnot.
I might get a Pixel phone down the line to just install GrapheneOS, though.
oneplus6t with lineageos
Samsung Galaxy A16 5G
SM-A166U
both graphene and lineage dont have a rom for it.
Was going to get a S23 Ultra but found out I can't DeGoogle that, and should at least mostly DeGoogle next device I get. Likely better places to get a phone recc, but people here likely know good phones that can be degoogled 1. Looking for reccs for what to buy in US more than asking if a preexisting phone can DeGoogle, 512GB and $500-600 range ideally and would say ~$800-900 hard cap
2. Seeing Lineage and Graphene a lot, haven't really done my proper round of research yet. Thinking just whatever I can get Lineage on and worry about specific ROMs with next phone with that as a starting point
3. Nothing yet, I'd presume it's just a more time consuming process of Revancing YouTube, or setting up Spicetify for PC Spotify? Correct me if I'm wrong.

You have good support. Many official ROMs like Evolution os https://evolution-x.org/devices/miatoll
Xiaomi 13T pro
https://xdaforums.com/f/xiaomi-13-pro.12683/?prefix_id=33
You have great support of official custom roms.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE, I know about Lineage and /e/OS. But essentially I am sceptical about what is best especially for a tablet.
Simbans PicassoTab X running build PicassoTab_X_A10_20211108
I looked at CalyxOS, LineageOS, Replicant, UBPorts, postmarketOS, PureOS, Plasma Mobile, and mobian. None had any Simbans listed as covered devices.
I don’t have a ton of experience with android devices so I’m hesitant to attempt anything without more guidance. I want to DeGoogle and generally beef up privacy and security while still being able to draw.
I appreciate any insight, thanks!
You need more popular brand and device. Most tablet don't have custom roms.
I understand but also I can get what I can get and I would like to still degoogle. I got this tablet for $100, I’m not gonna buy another device for ease of modding.
If there’s something that can work across multiple devices that may or may not work for mine, I’d be willing to try. I’m hoping for guidance in what to try so it’s educated trial instead of my random fumbling. I don’t want to brick this, that defeats the purpose, but I’d like Google to fuck off.
You can try GSI (Generic System images). GSI aren't made for specific devices like proper custom roms. There will probably have some bugs.
If You come back to stock os. You can try https://github.com/Universal-Debloater-Alliance/universal-android-debloater-next-generation to debloat apps. Remember that you can't uninstall random stuff become It can boot loop your phone.
Fairphone gen 6?

S25 ultra???
Samsung blocks 4G calling and Wifi calling on custom ROMs and permanently triggers Knox if you unlock the bootloader, so no one is building ROMs for Samsung phones these days. And if your S25 Ultra has OneUI 8 it is no longer possible to unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROM.
Thanks for this. I was wondering why I couldn't find any alternatives for any recent Samsung phones.
Asus ZenFone max pro M1 (x00td)
There was a lineage os 20.0 release but it was discontinued after that. The guy working on it stopped after releasing a beta android 14 rom. Everything is outdated and rom packs security patches.
I have considered moving to Murena /e/ os but it also seems to be stuck on android 13 but says it is community supported and still gets daily builds. Idk if it is auto-generated build or someone is actively working on it. Can anyone check for me if it is still supported properly? If not, is there any other rom that is newer (optionally, under active development or at least gets security patches) than the two I just mentioned? Thanks in advance.
Edit: the links for outdated roms: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/X00TD/ https://doc.e.foundation/devices/X00TD And finally https://xdaforums.com/t/rom-14-signed-lineage-21-0-x00td-asus-zenfone-max-pro-m1.4669119/ Made by official maintainer before going missing.
ASUS blocked unlocking of bootloader https://github.com/zenfyrdev/bootloader-unlock-wall-of-shame/blob/main/brands/asus/README.md
I already unlocked it through the unofficial method which still works. I'm typing this out on my los20 phone with magisk.
Yo, update me if you went for these roms
OPPO A58 - (CPH2577) It says on the box it was made in Brazil.
Looks like there aren't any ROMs that support it
Nope.
It isn't surprising. Oppo/realme don't support bootloader unlock for most regions https://github.com/zenfyrdev/bootloader-unlock-wall-of-shame/blob/main/brands/oppo/README.md
Oppo Reno 8pro, the bootloader can be unlocked but I can't find any OS that supports it
There doesn't custom roms for this device.
Moto g55 5G. I do not see LineageOS as supporting it.
Nope.
Sad.

I read about Grapene OS and how it was the best for pixel phones but i anit have that. Heard about /e and some others but idk
Right now A15 4G (and 5G) don't have custom roms.

Many custom roms aren't longer mainted becose note 9 is old (7 years). https://xdaforums.com/f/samsung-galaxy-note-9-questions-answers.8014/
You can try e/OS/
https://doc.e.foundation/devices/crownlte
https://community.e.foundation/t/will-galaxy-s9-enjoy-continued-support-on-e-os-despite-lineage-os-warn-discontinued/64850
Remember that Galaxy Note 9 have many verions of SoC (qualcom/exynos). You need find custom roms for your model.
Just found this sub. I am really wanting a custom ROM but I think I'm out of luck for my phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. I researched the different rooms but I couldn't find anything compatible. Is there such a rom? Or am I SOL? I was interested in e/OS but I'd take anything at this point. I should also mention that this would be a first for me (installing a different OS) so I need to have directions for a beginner.
Same (SOL)... Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra (unlocked).
I'll miss my S-pen functionality, but I'd miss my privacy & safety more. I've tried disabling play store app etc & basically deg00gled all I could, but I'd really rather just remove all things g00gle entirely.
I'm willing to buy a different phone entirely... Like linux etc.
Uninstalled all apps that were initially set up thru google & samsung's app stores.
Reinstalled apps directly from makers or else thru F-Droid app store, & fall back to Aurora app store for the rest.
Disabled what couldn't be uninstalled.
Using HeliBoard & OpenBoard keyboard.
Using Fossify for phone calls, messages, etc,
Thanks so much for this! I'm going to do these things tonight. My next phone is going to be a Pixel so that I can put Graphene on it. But until then, these are great ideas!

I stumbled across this subreddit and im kinda curious, what does ROM mean in this context? is it the same thing as a rom file for a videogame?
It's an operating system.

Wondering if anyone has anything regarding an SM-A556E (A55 5g)? I've had a look at a few (Graphene is instantly out) and e/OS and Lineage don't seem to know that the A55 exists. Can someone point me in the right direction? Checked xda forums and there's a couple asking but no bites and one of HyperOS that I've never heard of.
Thanks in advance!
I found only one ui8 port. https://xdaforums.com/f/samsung-galaxy-a55.12842/?prefix_id=33
I assume this is the ROM question Megathread? If so, question.
I wanted to jump to Graphene (Pixel 8 Pro) but I'm worried about it not working out well for me and wanting to jump back, so I wanted to have a backup just in case.
Is that realistically possible? I obviously understand I'd have to reflash Android on to it if I did, but I'd feel a bit more comfortable if I could in case I jumped. Is the only realistic way to do so is by getting the logins/settings backed up per-app by the app?
Also, how do things like launchers work? I assume like any other installed Android app?
Sorry if these are basic level questions...
Yeah, after install of launcher you need to change default launcher.

why and what are the consequences about losing volte and vowifi?

Only popular devices have custom roms

this isnt a question about rom but with a budget of $200 what is a good phone to switch to for working degoogled rom. referbished or used phones wanted
Devices with the best community support have a Snapdragon SoC and are popular devices. OnePlus devices have the best support. Xiaomi devices often have good support too but unlocking the bootloader is hard. Motorola has a smaller community. Sony and Nothing Phone don't have the best price to performance. Pixel are from google :P (degoogle).

Hello, I am new to this community and I would really like to have grapheneOS, unfortunately it seems that my ohone doesn't support it (and I am not planning on bying a pixel phone for this as my phone works just fine). However it seems that some people managed to make it work but I find the information out there confusing. So, can I try grapheneOS on my samsung S24 phone? What are the risks? If I can't what can I do by still keeping the main phone? What really attracted me in graphene is that the apps truly close, you can choose witch have access to the internet and you can have different 'account' so some apps exist separately from all the others.
You can try GSI (Generic System images). They have bugs because GSI aren't made for specific devices like proper custom roms.
I think is it much better to try custom roms for your device.
Thank you for your answer! I will look into it
Anyone got any experience with rooting the fossiblt f101

Does not seem to be any, FYI Samsung phones use proprietary IMS services used for 4g, 5g and VoLTE which no custom ROMs for other Samsungs support yet, so you would be unable to make phone calls if 2g and 3g are shut down in your country
It isn't true. IMS are only for VoLTE and VoWiFi. There are efforts and progress in enabling VoLTE LINK
are there any degoogled ROMs that let you keep using Google Wallet? it would take a while to explain, but essentially i have a particular card (transit, not credit card) that i can only use with some kind of phone-based NFC like Google Wallet.
(if you're curious, the explanation is that i get a monthly transit pass taken out of my paycheck pre-tax and it would be a big hassle with the local government bureaucracy and my employer to get that done all over again with a new physical card)
You can make google wallet to work in all custom roms but It isn't stable long term.
Considering buying a tablet. Are there ROMs out there for such?
Yeah some tablet support custom roms.
Samsung A25 5G. Code: a25xeea
Lineage and Bliss. Neither have an option for this phone model.
Thought about GSIs, but I've heard there are problems like Bluetooth not working.

Hi I have 2 devices that I want to degoogle completely Moto edge 30 fusion and Moto edge 50 ultra.
I honestly wish I could DeGoogle my phone completely, but I have Verizon and Tracphone, so that's impossible apparently. :/
Any good ROM options out there for the Galaxy Tab Active5? I just want an 8" tablet in my life.
Nope
I've been looking for a decent degoogled ROM for my PICO F5 phone, does anyone have any recommendations?
Poco f5? It has great custom roms support. You should choose some Oficial roms
Hi, I have been looking at purchasing a fairphone 6 but I wanted to run a e/OS version. I know that I can purchase one through the Murena website but, as I am based in the UK, the import fees/duties are going make it very expensive. So I was looking at buying the phone through a third party (ao.com) and was going to install the e/OS afterwards using the easy installer. But there aren't any official builds out yet. Does anyone know if they are planning on releasing one this year?
I have a google pixel pro 9 XL, but it's locked to t-mobile, what are my options?
You can text T-Mobile's customer support via Twitter (X) or any other social platform and inform them that you would like to unlock the bootloader for development purposes. You can also mention that you were not aware that the phone was locked to the bootloader, and that having it locked significantly limits what you can do with your phone for personal use.
Does anyone know for a degoogled rom for Galaxy A12, model SM-A125F?
https://xdaforums.com/f/samsung-galaxy-a12.12125/?prefix_id=33
I have an Asus rog phone 7. Other than that, where do I even start?
You can't unlock bootloader in ASUS.
Really? What can I do then?
yeah https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGphone/comments/1fwb9uw/lets_raise_awareness_to_asus_to_reenable_the/
Aside from avoiding Asus on your next purchase there is nothing you can do.
At the time it seemed like the best option. What would you suggest?
Devices with the best community support have a Snapdragon SoC and are popular devices. OnePlus devices have the best support. Xiaomi devices often have good support too but unlocking the bootloader is hard. Motorola has a smaller community. Sony and Nothing Phone don't have the best price to performance. Pixel are from google :P (degoogle).
I chose this model for the storage space mostly. I had a rog 3 before and liked everything else it did. First time trying to do this particular thing
Oki doki if you want me to recommend a specific model I will have to pass. Availability and prices are different in every country.
I'll keep it in mind for next time
I forgot to mention https://github.com/Universal-Debloater-Alliance/universal-android-debloater-next-generation. You can debloat some google apps but don't remove random stuff. Backup your data :)
