Hell yea bro! Be sure to build a stone oven in the bottom to cook on and get dry. Make a couple of crates to hold firewood and repairables. Also if you dont want people to break in, just use a 3 dial or no lock. Most will come in and at worst tear down your stone oven.
I didn't know a stone oven was a thing ! Where should I go from here ? Go out raiding ? Build a car somehow ? I have a few car related objects- spark plug , Jerry can , radiator, battery...
I used to have a stone oven. Outside our little shed duo base. Really handy. And just cool to have. Light only comes out of the opening side. We were also beside a pond. Basicallya built in fish processing plant. There was also a deer spawn across the pond.

Depends on what you want to do. You trying to get into fights? Then head to NWAF. A car is fun for goofing off, but you will get shot driving the main roads. Raiding is fun, but most bases you csn glitch into.
My crew has maintained a single gate base, with a 3 combo lock. Most people just roll the code and when they see that there isn't anything worth taking just bounce. Sometimes we just leave the lock off. Bases are usable if you dont keep anything valuable.

So the best way to start is by building an improvised stick shelter or a wooden crate so you can stash your building supplies when you're not using them, that way you can still carry plenty of food, water and ammo. A "staging area" is where you stash tools and supplies while you plan.
I've been struggling to get a long lived character going again. I had forgotten how many ways you die when you're not fully kitted with a base and crates of everything.
Kinda boring , it's just a field . My main goal with DayZ is to do anything with my hands that is possible. For instance, on my last man I used a megaphone for the first time and conducted my first solo raid
Lol I’m just now figuring out how to start a fire 🔥 running from Zombies dying from not finding food and ish 😂 I’ll figure it out eventually. I got a fire going in a fireplace …. Lol
Ya I dunno. I tried the staying alive as long as possible style. I love the grind of going inland getting better stuff bit now I just speed run to nearest base. Hang around a bit and go back to the coast with whatever load out I got and stalk and battle until I die.
I play Livonia map. Every base I made with locks and bear traps I ever made was raided and dismantled in various lengths of time.
I made another base, no locks, no traps, no dogate. Open horseshoe, only barrels with food, and several plots for tomatoes and green peppers. And a glitched in large tent you can't pack up. Two months in, people are adding to it like a little community. Someone even built a stone oven. and flagpole got put up so that things would not despawn.

Two completely different ideas come to mind. A stone oven between a lake and a deer spawn. A little shelter from the rain.
Or, a public snipers nest. A watchtower as pictured over a town or city. The chaos that could cause.

How the fuck do you people do it? I can barely find villages with any weapons let alone the correct clothing.

189 hours in total across all lives, this guy is fairly new as I blew myself up attempting a raid and then another fresh spawn was killed by gas .

The good news is that it takes a week for bases to despawn , so if I die I have 7 days to run back home and interact with it to keep it alive
