My trio found a guy hanging around the safe zone drinking from a well, clearly new. Barely any gear, and no teammates on sight. Instead of making fun of him or ignoring him, we decided to help him out.
He claimed to be a 600 hr solo who like played community vanilla servers. We took him in and gave him everything. We let him access our storage, one of our cars, everything. We even gave him advice on building based. He was running around with our gear like he’d been in the group forever.
We even took him to the Livonia bunker, which he claimed he had never been in before. We walked him through the whole thing, made sure he made it out alive and fully geared. By that point all of us had let our guard down. My two other teammates had been arguing a lot over something dumb. He’d been with us for several and had literally been handed everything.
Then after a couple minutes of driving, the arguing had gotten worse and our driver (not the random but one of my teammates) goes out to shoot my other teammate with a pistol. When he tries to get back in driver’s seat to drive his character glitches out. He can’t start the car and completely stuck. So we all get out of the car to try and help get him unstuck. Nobody’s aiming weapons or anything. We’re just dealing with DayZ being DayZ.
That’s when he shoots us.
No warning. No hesitation. Just waits until we’re distracted and starts killing us one by one.
All the time we spent helping him. All the gear. All the trust. Gone in seconds.
I get that it’s a survival game. I get that betrayal happens. But this wasn’t desperation or a tense moment. This was someone taking everything he could and still deciding it wasn’t enough.
Lesson learned, I guess.
Trust no one.
sounds like he got sick of yalls bitching lmao
This is exactly what I was thinking lol
Yea fair enough... like how do u bitch so much and then shoot your friend lol
Yeah it’s all good between buddies that have known each other but new guys usually won’t take to it and if they say oh I’m just gonna leave they might get killed so instead they take that way out
Plus he thought to himself, if these crazy fucks are willing to kill their own friends, I am definitely expendable. Better you guys than him, especially after all the gear he had acquired.
And you know what, that’s completely reasonable lmfao.
As a long time survivor mostly friendly mic player I’ve gone aggro murderer on strangers before because of the way they talked to others on the mic. Sometimes people just need a little slap on the wrist, and bitching at each other sounds like a good way to earn that.
Lol thought the same thing. He did what he had to do
Definitely, something someone said triggered the guy. Was an abused child, probably and hated the very mention of corned beef.
What kind of stupid statement is that?
No we just have really dumb teammate who was making the driver mad. We love him but he was being really annoying
we also asked him if he minds cussing and if theres stuff he doesnt like
Seems like you got the answer
he told us he doesnt care and that he “gets called slurs all the time because hes mexican and he loves it”
My take- as soon as your buddies started shooting at each other, he recalibrated his own safety quotient.
Then, it was just a matter of him deciding whether he wanted to start fresh, or keep the goods and move on.
yeah it just pisses me off how they couldnt keep their cool
Me and my trio will help someone out momentarily. But we don’t let people join the group. We’ve given rides, food, water. Just keep it at that.
Never show anyone how the sausage is made
You started shooting each other and expect him to just stand by and watch and not be concerned? lol
My thoughts exactly. OP’s group started the chaos.
Yeah this is exactly the focus of the story. The “friends” aren’t safe together and he’s a stranger, what did they expect?
To be fair, if I was this random person and witnessed the driver exit the car to execute another team member who they likely know far better than me- I would have killed as many of you as I could. It became a volatile situation for someone with no skin in the game
He shot him with a round of 9 mil. He had the best vest on so it only took away a sliver of hp
You really don’t see the issue? Wild how isolated can be in their perspectives.
I actually can't blame the guy. Sounds like your teammates were being annoying as hell, not everyone rolls with a squad like that
Personally, I don’t like being in pre-established friend groups IRL or in DayZ, so I wouldn’t dime the same thing. I’ve teamed up with some solos that ended up being extremely annoying so I killed them.
He’d be even more satisfied knowing you wrote a Thesis paper on it.
Grating personalities get to me. Sounds like that could have been your buddies. Sometimes you have to put on a professional face for strangers.
“Hey a new guy with a gun! Let’s keep him around!” And then taking your eyes off of him at all is truly a decision
i tried to tell them and they kept fucking bickering. pissed me off tbh but its the past now.
Yeah uh, if I fall in with a group that starts shooting at each other, I’m immediately deciding when to start killing them all.
This right here. If they're killing friends that means I'm next
I dont blame him, imagine trying to enjoy a game with two ppl arguing for some dumb shit, inwould do the same shit, kill all and after that f11
it was only a couple of minutes. Dude was laughing with us and running with us for hours before that
Your fault dude. Trust no one.
That’s funny as fuck. What a chad.
Damn right. Shows em care-bear server players nog to trust randoms!
we know we have thousands of hours in total but we have always liked the aspect of helping people out in dayz. we met some of our best teammates because they took us under their wing when we were vulnerable and new to the game. We have also helped out so many people out before. It’s just a part of the game we will love but know will never be able to fully be embraced
"Geezzz what a bunch of bickering toddlers"
Ka-pow
Such is the beauty of Dayz.
"We took him"
That was your 1st mistake
That YouTube video is going to make him some money
I’ve played DayZ for many many years, in and out of plenty squads and factions. Some big, some small. Not once did any of us argue to the point we tried to kill each other lmao.
I could see why the random thought “fuck this!”
I did that before with some guys. Gained their trust. They flew me around in a heli. They wanted to go loot NWAF. Flew us up there. Landed in a spot they thought was safe. We all got out and started running. I quickly ran back and flew off in their Heli. Bye!
Sounds like a movie-like betrayal vor me. Quite a good story ya´ll made together.
Lol 1st rule of dayz has always been don't trust anyone
why not?
Probably got tired of listening to yall whining
Bruh, I play with people on the road to Valhalla server. We sometimes egg each other on and sometimes we push too hard and someone gets got. 😂😂😅 I've been victim to it when I didn't even do anything. 🥴💀 Mistaken identity from being too far away with no name popping up and being too similarly dressed. 😂
I got a lot of apologizes. They even went out of their way to figure out where I respawned and picked me up. So I want too upset. Just got a couple jobs in with gloved fits. I was regeared in less than 15 mins of respawn. Sitting back on the wall watching for other players and killing zombies from a distance.
Yes the server is modded so it was super quick. They also have a discord if anyone is interested in joining.
On my parents server it takes about 45 mins because the respawn areas are far from the bases we have. 😂
Trust no one. Your fault guys.
If you already have a group, don’t take on randoms, especially if you’re geared
Only take on new players if you’re all starting from scratch
On most community servers it's fine, but on official servers it's every man for himself. You can have trusted friends, but not some random DayZ player. This game is a truly incredible life experience. It's also a game that can break a fragile friendship.
Deserved. I’m not gonna tell you why, but I will tell you it’s going to happen again.
a dog that's a bystander to a dog fight joins in on the fight. that's what happened.
How many times do we have to repeat this: trust no one
Unexpected betrayal is the core of DayZ's game play. It was a staple of the mod.
The original inspiration for the mod was Dean Hall wanting to steal food from one of his fellow soldiers in a survival training program... he wanted a game that players might get motivated to make horrible decisions for selfish reasons. Mission Accomplished lol.
Hahahaha. Kids will be kids - they don’t grow empathy muscles until their mid-20’s. I recommend playing a no-holds-barred survival server, where you’ll be so busy not dying from the AI locals and the electrical storms and the low drop rates that survival pretty much requires forming alliances with other survivors. I’m finding players I encounter on these servers are more mature and inclined to tackle the post-pandemic world in more constructive and realistic manner rather than as a shooter game for wannabe murderers.
Any recommendations for servers like that?
You play on servers with "safe zones". You get what you deserve
lmao so I’m not allowed to have fun on a modded server after playing a wipe on karmakrew sakhal?
Lol you think kk isn't modded 😂
Are you an idiot? There’s no map, almost NOTHING modded. It’s literally just vanilla for players who don’t want to play against cheaters. I would love to see how you do on Sakhal
I honestly dont see any unmodded servers that arent dead aside from cherno lol
Rule 1 of DayZ is trust no one. Rule 2, trust no one.
A trusted friend is worth more than all the loot on the server.
That guy traded an entire future for some momentary satisfaction.
Dayz is only a video game, but I think it’s kind of a litmus test for showing how some people truly are.
This guy sucks. But you’re not the first to spend hours with a random for them to turn on you. People like this are why DayZ interactions rarely happen anymore, KOS because you can’t take any risks
I learned years ago playing Secondlife - there’s a real person with real feelings on the other side of the monitor, and there are a lot of people who either don’t realize this or are actually inclined to cause harm. Still, to be fair - several cars? Sounds like you fellas needed to start over, anyway. Go find a server where the server itself challenges you a bit more - fewer immature players, more fun, and certainly less rancor when you do die.
yup. ive seen my friends get insided several times and losing everything because they took them under their wing
Trust is earned not given. You fucked up when you gave it away. He had no reason to value it. We usually play with new members for a good amount of time before even taking them to our base, and then they only get the first few levels of codes.
We never give away stuff like that but wipe was getting closer and the rest of our group stopped playing as much so we decided to try to potentially add a new member. He doesnt have access to base we just let him in for a few minutes
For sure, its a double edged sword.
Maybe you should have believed his 600 hours. Just because you're a freshy doesn't mean you're new. He probably plotted that from the very beginning and that was his opening.
Current survivors body count is 10. Trust no one.
i am sorry i am a good mate but i kos you in dayz no matter the situation, no matter if you freshie and i am full geared. ive got betrayed so many times...
whats the phrase? die as hero o live as long to become the villain
