Hey guys,

Ever joined what you thought was your favorite server, only to end up on some garbage copycat with fake player counts? Yeah, that's been getting worse.

So I spent 4 months building Day(Z) Beans Launcher. Because if we're trading beans for friendship, we should at least know the server is real.

What it does:

Server verification - Flags fake player counts and suspicious servers before you download anything

Modern UI - We deserved something that doesn't look like it's from 2010. Clean interface with compact or detailed view

One-click join - Handles all mods automatically. Just works.

Security-focused - Only verified Steam Workshop content

Tracks 20,000+ servers with a solid core ready to go. Completely free for players, no ads, no premium BS.

I built the foundation, but I need the community to help shape where it goes next. Your feedback will directly influence development priorities.

Here you go: dayzbeanslauncher.com

Try it out and let me know what you think. What features matter most to you?

  • Show the average number of players over the last 6 hours or something similar.

  • Good job man! I only play official but I still can see a great thing being done for an appreciative community. Props, no one asked you to do this.

  • I only have 1 feature required that's missing from every launcher.

to automatically unsubscribe from the mods I'm not using.

it doesn't seem that hard of a feature to code in, so I don't know why no one's done it.

maybe don't unsubscribe from the maps... they tend to be large, and whilst you don't like 1 deer isle server, you'll probably go find another one you do like.

but if you unstar a server, have it check for unshared mods and unsubscribe automatically.

400gb of drive space freed up!

This function is available in the launcher

how is the launcher supposed to know which mods you aren't using? If you play a server and exit, should it just unsub from all those mods immediately?

No, it should probably just group mods that you haven't used in a long time together so you can unsubscribe from them in one click.

Doesn't seem like a horrible idea, but does the steam workshop API contain any data for that? Or would it only be based on the launchers local data?

The launcher knows which mods it activates when you start the game, so it could easily keep track of the last time each mod was loaded. Then for example add a "last used" column to the subscribed mods list. The user can sort by it and unsub the old ones.

The launcher could even pair the date with the server's name, so you could remove all mods of a server you never intend to go back to.

Well yeah that's what I meant with "Based on the launchers local data".

I don't think these issues per say stop anybody from implementing a launcher with this functionality. But how do you handle a mod-list based on data that was installed when using another launcher? Or if the data is wiped but the account is still subscribed to workshop items that the launcher isn't tracking?

I think most people use only one launcher and don't reinstall it very often, so this launcher would have accurate enough mod usage data after a while. And the launcher can detect which mods the user has subscribed, so it would still show them but without the last use date.

edit. Looks like the launcher already has this feature :D

seems like a lot of work on the launcher where disk is cheap

It doesn't sound like a lot of work to me. Saving one date for all active mods on launch. That's like 50kB of disk space for a thousand mods.

you fav a server and it downloads the mods.

    you unfav, and it unsubs

so you'll have to favorite before you start or stop playing and the launcher has to keep track of overlapping mod usage.

yeah, but favouriting before you start playing a server is sensible, just so you don't lose the server next time.

    not exit. unfav!

Well he did say your feedback will directly influence development properties. Your comment is exactly what he wants.

  • Not sure how the server impersonator protection is supposed to work. If an established server is unaware of your launcher (or doesn't want to pass their RCon credentials to your website), can an impersonator "claim" the same name, thus delisting the real server?

    https://dayzbeanslauncher.com/promote

Really curious about this. Server impersonation protection seems like one of the primary features of this launcher but there's so little information about how it's being handled here that I don't understand why they would expect server owners to hand over their RCON password (and why that's needed to verify?). If this isn't implemented correctly it can very well delist legitimate servers from the launcher, which is pretty concerning if this were to be utilized by any portion of the playerbase.

  • much appreciated. i'm going to post on the official dayz discord

  • yeah where's all the maps? Currently there's 92ish community maps for dayz, Deadfall's not even on the list

  • If possible you could have a 'verified' system similar to what many platforms do.

Server owners could apply for verification so their servers are clearly marked as the official ones.

That's already implemented. You can claim your server in the website

Well well well. Then you've already done one of the most important features.

Is there also a blacklist that you can add to yourself to hide servers you don't want to show up?

You can report server direclty in the launcher and we have a complex system to detect fake server and auto blacklist them. It’s still in progress but it’s already doing a good job so far

Final question and then I wont pester you no more!

Does the launcher strictly function on windows or is there also Linux support working (If no, is it planned?)

Thank you, and nice to see a new launcher that is getting some sorely needed features.

The launcher is currently working on windows and LINUX 🐧

Releasing with windows and Linux support.

Thanks for the hard work, have a great day!

  • Can you fix the fake ping too?

  • cocorico ! Merci à toi

  • I like the design choices. Especially the font, it looks slick!

    Thanks man ❤️

  • Well, Frozen Echo using fake pop on your screenshot. Check it on BattleMetrics, their max pop for all time was about 65 players.

Fake pop isn't detected yet. I agree we still have work to do, and I thank you for pointing it out. It will be looked into, and an additional check will be added to blacklist servers that fake their server pop.

Thanks! By the way, GUI looks tasty, community will fell in love with that ;)

  • So I downloaded it to try it out. When I try to join a server with mods it will open a steam workshop page to the first mod on the list (which is odd, it should be in the background) and it will NOT actually download/subscribe to it, it just sits at 0% forever saying "Currently downloading" but I'm not even subscribed to it on workshop. I also noticed that when I cancel the downloads in the launcher it will say "Unsubscribe failed - steam not initialized" so that make have something to do with why it won't download them initially and I have no idea how to fix it.

Also there appears to be an issue with the map filter - it doesn't list all available maps, it stops somewhere in the B's currently so you can't even find Chernarus

You seems to experience a lot of weird issues. You're always welcome to join the discord for help but the launcher is actually dead simple to use: 1. You need steam initialized 2. You can download mods by clicking subscribe on the server details or just clicking join which will start the download manager

If you're running a distro like linux with steam flatpack, that could explain it more.

Like I said, come to discord 😉

  • I didnt know this tool exist. DZSA was not great, but it was ok for sub mods and server joining. This DayZ Beans tool has everything I want. really cool. :)

    Thanks man, enjoy !

  • Thanks DZSA is a bit long in the tooth now, and this has much better features.

  • Can we maybe get an option to change fonts? I like the look but my brain is having a really hard time reading the default font for some reason.

Also I think there's an issue with map names, like if nothing's in the search bar I get down to Barrington, that is B, but no further ...

    https://preview.redd.it/73l9061bt5ag1.png?width=275&format=png&auto=webp&s=8958801b4514d5e3fe0c42e67a159c5dfb2c3ded

However if I have something in the search bar, let's say Deadfall ... (can't paste anymore attachments to show), it's Deadfall, deadfall, chernarusplus, deadfall

  • Pretty cool, I tested it out and it seems really quick. I will send it out to our members. We're just starting on PC but grew to 20K+ in Discord with just console servers.

  • I like this layout

  • You're late and we already got battlemetrics where you don't need to download anything
