I'm a Brit and my wife's family are in Davao and we visit time to time
If you like a hike, go up Viper's Peak
There's this 'hilltop view' area which had street food lining the streets, nice view from up there, I'm sure people on the ground can fill you in
MTS is a place to drink but best in one of the small bars on the outer part, the 'centre' with the stage had very dated live music, imo (and I'm old!)
Roxas Night Market has a selection of street food and someone mentioned Huckleberry to drink, nice spot
There was a pub opposite called The William but it seems to have closed
Also, Samal Island as others have said
MTS (Matina Town Square) is quite good, various different types of food on offer a couple of bars and live music 7 nights a week.
Hey OP! Im from davao city and I would recommend you go to Samal Island for a quick beach trip. Just 10 mins away via boat ride. Highly recommend Discovery Samal or Chema’s by the Sea. At the heart of the city, you can have drinks at Huckleberry! It is nice there for day drinking and night drinking as well. For food, if you really want to try local food thats Davaoeños love, go to Bulcachong. For a quick nature trip, highly recommend Malagos Garden Resort! There is a nearby local produce restaurant called Huni Farm. The food there is also good as well! Enjoy your davao trip!
I planning to visit Davao again thanx for tips!

Cowboy Ranch great bar live entertainment in Davao
Is this in MTS?
Downtown Davao Google the address
I’ve been there! Check out Lon Wa Buddhist Temple it’s free! And Japanese Tunnel .Also Crocodile Park and Samal Island and stay at Paradise Island Resort! Check out Cowboy Ranch at night live entertainment but don’t sit at a table they charge you a minimum food and drink tab!
Explore Davao further with Malagos Garden where the world's famous chocolate from Davao is made. If you want to explore more of the countryside here's Samal's Island Hopping Tour.
Reposting this; previously responded the same to one of your comments, OP.
Hi there. I'm a local, and would be willing to accompany you and show you some of the sights in the city. Bring walking shoes, if you're up to going about on foot, but of course, we will be taking local transportation as well to navigate from point to point. Kindly let me know if you are interested.
DGT in matina
Thank you, will check this out!
If you like to do some nature trip, I recommend that you go to Malagos Garden Resort or Eden Nature Park, tho these are far from the city center.
For street foods, the Roxas Night Market is your best choice, as there are so many food stalls you can choose from.
If you like partying at night, the city has a liquor ban from 1 am-8 am, and the city doesn't offer much during the nighttime
I hope you enjoy Davao!
Definitely hitting up the night markets! Im not a big drinker but what are the bars like during the day? While on vacation I like to sit down with a beer during the day when I can.
Usually, during the day, there are restobars that typically serve full meals, but they still serve beer. I recommend you check out Blarney's
Davao city is generally safe, even if you walk alone at night. There are few spots here for street food --Roxas Night Market, DGT (kind of food bazaar rather than cluster of street food) and the one in the coastal road. There are also few night markets that offers street food and others which are located far from the city center.
Define "nice spots"? And are you more into nature, historic spots, food, etc?
By the way, it would also be nice to bring your walking shoes. DEO & a rubber (a must) specially, since your profile seems to show you are "active", and we Filipinos are hygiene freak.
Sorry I should have elaborated on "nice spots" I just want to explore what Davao is all about and was mainly asking about what the locals consider the nice spots. A locals perspective is tourist perspective is very different sometimes. I can do touristy stuff when im old. Haha
