I want to know kung unsa imong experience dira sa USeP, former student man or current. I’m not from Davao so I’d like to ask few questions about what you’ve gone through there as a student.

  1. Kamusta ang environment around dira sa obrero?
  4. If you were to advise your freshman self, what advice/s would you give?

Haylabyu both! 😁

    1. During our time, lingaw. Alive, samot na ug kadlawon.

    2. Very hands-off. No spoon feeding. Daghan kag prof na during exam week lang mo magkita. Pero si USEP man gud kay unlike sa other universities kay ginahayaan ra ang mga instructor to conduct their classes their own way, so sari sari jud imong ma experience. Naay mga prof na dili gapagamit ug libro unya puro real-life situations and essays ang exams and walay lain buhaton tibuok sem so need lang jud nimo mu attend and participate, naa puy prof na by the book kaayo, naa puy prof na sigeg pa reporting so murag kamo ray nag tinudluay mga classmate and naa poy prof ma magbuhat buhat ug sariling history sa Pilipinas, HAHAHA.

The rest ikaw na ana.

Naay gamay na penalty hinuon pero compared sa pinilahay didto ug tibuok adlaw, it’s a much better alternative

    1. Wala. Nalingaw man ko. I would do it the same way.

    2. Study hard, lingaw lingaw harder.

  • Engineering batch 2002 here.

Pirmi daghang tao.

  • Batch 2014 here 1. The environment is great. Naa ra siya sa heart sa city so accessible ra from usep ang mga malls, restos, hotels, eateries. Etc.

    1. Gavary ang teaching style sa profs. Naay prof na spoon feeder. Naa prof na sakto lang. Naa pud prof na hawd mutudlo. And naa pud bulokon and tapulan na prof. It’s like a box of chocolate. You never know what you’re gonna get.

    2. Common challenges: Well during our time, enrollment was a huge pain in the ass. Super long queues. Facilities were not good. I remember the time na our room was located in the Engineering building then around 40 ni na students sa classroom. We had to look for additional chairs sa other classrooms para lang makalingkod sa klase. Kaluy i among mga kalag sa purgatoryo 😆😆😆😆

    3. My advice to my freshman self: Start building your network as early as possible. Join orgs. Make friends with other students from different departments. Always study in advance. Be proactive.

    4. Akong tips sa mga incoming freshmen, always come to school prepared kay dili naka babyhon sa mga tao around you. USeP life, or State U life in general, is just a sneak peak kung unsa ka fucked up ang pagthrive for survival diri sa Pilipinas as an adult.

  • Batch 2016 here. 🙋🏻‍♀️ I started when facilities were nowhere near what they are now 😂 Teaching styles really depended on the prof, just like in any other school.

Still, USeP taught me the hard things in life especially resilience. And now that I’m in law school (not in USeP), akong kalisud sa USeP really helped me adjust right away.

This might sound boring to some, but I found friends whose drive and lifestyle matched mine. Library, school, church, walking to the grocery rajud mi. (Isa ko atong gabaligya sa school 😂)

My Ate, who works in government, once said they often prefer hiring Engineers from USeP because they’re resilient, dili arte, and confident. And honestly, I get why.

Also, mas strict na sila ron. And I can see that my Alma Mater continues to excel in almost all fields.

    USeP naming liyag 🦅

  • Batch 2019 CE here. Ako masulti lang is, USeP prepared me for real life. Not everything will fall accordingly in how you want it to be, pero matun-an nimo unsaon maging flexible, labi na sa instructors and even sa facilities (laboratories). Regardless, my 5-year stay as an engineering student there were the best years of my student life.

  • As alumni gikan sa College of Taya, mao ni Akong ma lamdag nimo:

    1. Very accessible, syempre daghag budget meals sa palibot (dang I rmb idol sabaw 20 pesos lang busog na)

    2. Akong naabtan tong time sa Eng'g nga tagakay, magpa litson na maka dawat rag tres, so probably a lot has changed sa ilang teaching styles, but ye they good

    3. First year high load. Not sure how much load inyoha karon, but first years before get 27-30 units Kung sa evening class pa na that's Monday - Sunday

    4. Bahalag magka bagsak bagsak bunal lang pirmi nok, Basta Wala paka na forced to shift. As much as possible aim high jud Dili pwede nang diha raka taman para ma likayan pd nang scenario sa Ibabaw

    • Always, as much as possible, prep spare change for photocopies, prints and so on.

    • Kung Wala Kay laptop, USB Pen drive is your best friend. Just go to the net cafe 4head

    • Get to know people. For sure maski Dili ka irreg daghan man gihapon kag ma meet if mu join kag clubs/interest/volunteer groups

    • Naa juy profs nimo nga makapa change sa imong worldview. Like how you do or see things. When u do, ma remember jud nimo sya for the rest of your life.

P.s. Motto sa Eng'g/IT students before aside sa ilang favorite "pa open subject" like Thermo, Trigo, Calculus haha

as IT alumna before natukod ang IT building, lingaw kaayo ang experience inig ting open nag subject kay daghan kaayog nakapaskil sa entrance palang sa COE Bldg. Fortunately, wala koy bagsak pero halos naay INC kada sem! Ambot giunsa to nako
