I just got invaded, and instead of fighting me, homeboy ran up to the merchant and sat there shooting at me with poison arrows. I couldn't do anything without hitting the merchant and aggroing him, which ended up happening and I lost obviously. Like seriously bro, I'm bad enough as is, you can beat me one on one, must you insist on roping the poor merchant into it as well?

In the future, if the invader is being a turd, just run for the boss. They get kicked when you cross the fog.
Yeah I'm aware of that. I just didn't have a homeward bone and wanted to keep my human form. But honestly I'm so bad at pvp I would have stood a better chance anyway. As they say, hindsight is 20/20
If you're in that situation, enter the boss fight and then just save quit immediately.
When you load the game again you'll be stood back outside the fog gate (but obviously you'll have to walk back to the bonfire if you don't want to attempt the boss).
