This is my first playthrough of Dark Souls - of any Fromsoftware game for that matter (gotta start at the beginning, right?)

To say the journey was a wild ride would be an understatement. Im in the latter half of the game by now, ive already beaten Seath and Nito. And going further into the depths of the demon ruins ive noticed that the boss fights were becoming increasingly ... well, lacking in some regards.
But this god damned gimmicky atrocity of a boss fight managed to drain me ... gotta warm my feet, drink some coffee and catch some fresh air

  • DS1 notoriously had to crunch to get released on time, and a lot of content got cut. They basically had to say "fuck it, good enough" for all of Lost Izalith. It's why it looks terrible, had wierd random copy/paste enemy placement and has random dragon asses as "new enemies".

I appreciate the remaster staying true to the original but part of me wishes they remade that section into what they wanted originally.

Yeah, it felt kinda ... soulless, pun intended

It’s the random madness of True Chaos 😝

7 taurus demons in the demon ruins guarding the chaos ember

there is no deadline that could reasonably possess a decently cognisant human being to create the bed of chaos. that was pure malice and hateed

The only boss in DS1 where you can safely say the designers only motivation in its creation was they wanted us to suffer

  • Bed of chaos boss fight is always stressfull to me

  • Fuck bed of chaos, all my homies hate bed of chaos!

There's always your second play though to earn your O&S badge.

  • Yeah, it's an unpleasant one. I love it's atmosphere but in gameplay, it's poorly executed. But tbh, Nito was the one make me almost puke.

I think i was some what overleveled when i made it through the tomb of giants... i got him on my 2nd attempt, with a few estus charges i steamrolled him somehow

  • I found that bed of chaos was a fight that if you didn’t get it the first try, you were fucked, cause the floor disappears and stays gone, which is INCREDIBLY annoying.

This makes no sense. You don't have to re-tread paths once you break the right/left bond. After one is broken, the floor will be breaking beneath you all the way to the second path.

Having the floor already broken actually makes it easier, because now you know where the stable ground is.

Hey i’m just speaking to my experience. I usually do kill bed of chaos on the first try, but whenever I don’t, for some reason all the following attempts are harder.

  • Miyazaki has said the Bed of Chaos is his greatest regret in DS1.

Well, thats ... nice to hear at least - makes you wonder what their ideal vision for this boss fight would have been

  • Lack of a jump button really hurts that fight more than anything. If platforming in Dark Souls wasn't so.. awful, I think that fight would have been pretty cool. There is also some problems with terrain geometry (fixable stuff), but that's somewhat secondary.

Very true, i think ive figured out a lot about Dark Souls by now ... but jumping in this game still feels like learning how to walk as a toddler to me

  • Also playing through for the first time(though I’ve played ER and BB) Bed of Chaos just felt like doing cardio lol, at least he doesn’t reset so you just have to run a few times after he inevitably knocks you into the hole

True that was kinda releaving ... however - THEN dying 4 times in a row by getting sweeped off the floor was somehow even more infuriating to me haha

  • You just went through the shittiest part of the game, everything else gets better now. After a while, you'll learn that killing Bed of Chaos with 0 deaths is pretty easy, if you run the game again (go right first HUGGING the wall, BOW SHOT the strip, homeward bone, left, shot strip, homewardbone, go forward and time the dash to Bed's hole just after her arms wiggle, gg

Now, I wonder if Ring of fog and of (sound suppression) are useful in this fight...

Prepare to have a blast on the expansion, that is pretty hi-quality! (I usually do it before Four Kings)

Wouldn't it be easier to quit out than to homeward bone? I'm pretty sure that puts you at the fog wall instead of the bonfire.

You're right, i think! Then, I developed my bed (of chaos) technique by myself, after stupidly killing the left side first in my first three runs, and having to re-run to bed 10 times trying to kill the damn right side '

Hm, i was wondering when to do that

Ring of fog and slumbering dragon crest ring actually DO work on BoC.

  • It's... Chaos?

  • The bed of bullshit is more like it!

  • Bull, a lot of bull that is what the BoC is

  • As some have said before me, the back-half of DS1 had to be rushed to be released on time. This becomes apparant duo to lack of interconnected maps, tomb of giants to some extent, and especially with Lost Izalith. As a result Bed of Chaos is pretty much universally disliked among souls players and regarded as one of Fromsofts worst ever bosses. Luckily the boss can be cheesed with some well aimed firebombs.

For me it's a quick approach and a homeward bone, back in and bone, etc.

Does quitting out work to put you in front of the fog gate?

  • Nah back to the fire, so 3-4 min jog. Could be worse.

  • I Will always give 30 humanity to the girl that gives the shortcut to Lost izalith Not Only cuz Solaire

But also because it removes entirely the most annoying part of the fight, the run back

  • Am I the only one who didn't have any trouble with this boss? - Once you know the way to go it's the easiest boss there is!

  • It's the best boss in the game, I love the bed of chaos

  • Bed of Chaos still haunts my bad development dreams. Actually crazy how they managed to absolutely butcher that bossfight so badly, especially with the frustrating runback.

  • Was her pussy popping or not?
