Honestly, the only thing that sucked a fatboys dick about it was that when I died, then beat it in the next life, there was nowhere for me to recover my souls. They just vanished.
I tried the firebomb cheese. I had 7 firebombs and missed on my first 5 throws then nailed it with the last 2. For once I had an enjoyable BoC experience.

Probably what he means. But I think, in a way, all the lord soul bosses are gimmick fights anyway. One is immortal until you break a crystal, another a DPS race in a dark arena, another has reincarnating adds. Really not that much different than the “gimmick” fights of DeS.
All fights have gimmicks and the threshold for “gimmick fight” has always been vague.
Everything in a game is a gimmick, including the biggest gimmick of all, damage sponging each other in a wide open and safe arena until an HP bar reaches zero and neither behave differently at 100% hp and 1hp (few exceptions).
I wouldn’t say i enjoy bed of chaos but i definitely don’t hate it, I appreciate the variety. And managing to pull it off deathless by the skin of your teeth is actually really fun
I thought it's not that bad right..? right? why the fuck do I keep dying? why do I keep missing the jump down? I need to roll? now I've rolled off the branch, what the fuck. The first time I made it to the branch I was basically up, and I got smacked off
If it’s not your first playthrough, BoC actually isn’t that bad. Attacks are well telegraphed, stay on the outside of the arena, it takes 2 maybe 3 tries tops. I don’t get why she seems to be the bane of everyone’s existence
It’s not that bad. Sure, it sucks, and you die a few times, but it’s not like you get stuck on it for hours
I need this outlook when fighting it. During the moment I’m just annoyed that I have to do it.
if you go slow and watch for the arm swing #1 and then #2 you should be able to knock it out in two or three tries no sweat.

BoC is the reason I have never attempted a deathless run. I couldn’t do it.
If you lookup the bow strat on YT, it's pretty do-able. Tedious to learn. But I've seen people get very consistent at it.

I finally did and it’s saved me tons of headache. I haven’t died to boc in the last 10 games
