Why do you consider it holy?

    "Holy" intensifies the wrongness.

    parent
    145 points Yeetus_Mclickeetus

"shit" means the baseline intensity then

    parent root
    46 points azaathik

It then graduates to the third level with holy fucking shit.

I wonder if it has anything to do with British involvement in India. Maybe they saw some “holy shit” during colonization and then it just stuck

    parent
    16 points CardioBatman

    Why specifically India

    parent root
    49 points EmpoweRED21

In some areas of India cow poop is considered holy and the British were there for a long time so maybe there is some correlation

    parent root
    10 points tameablesiva12

Cows are holy not cow dung. Although cow dung is used in a variety of applications in india from fuel to fertilisers. Although they are also used as fuel for the ritual pyres. Nobody's out here worshipping cow dung though to the point that the british would it consider it as holy.

Interesting, so I assume the people in this video is all AI?

    https://youtu.be/_WsPZC1-TLo?si=AfWo6jqmfB7yFfnh

I can understand that it’s a minority, but looks like some do refer to the dung in a “holier” way.

If I was a Brit and walked into this city and saw what the video depicts.. I’d definitely say “holy shit”

Hindus believe that Lakshmi resides in cow dung.

    parent root
    1 points tameablesiva12

Ok? And? Its a story that was made up to explain and appreciate the uses of cow dung as fertilisers and fuel. And such people say that the goddess of wealth resides in it. Lakshmi is still worshipped in an idolised form and cow dung is rarely associated with her, so much so that this is the first time I've heard of it.

Hinduism is a diverse religion. It is a Vedic religion that has also absorbed various folk and tribal religions as its own. It has no standardised canon like the bible or Quran, Just like every other dharmic or east asian religion. There are a few main rules and gods but they can be interpreted in almost any way. This is why hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism are considered the most progressive of religions. Because it is very flexible and open to new ideas unlike the abrahamic religions which has the main canon from their holy book to uphold.

You people think Christianity is diverse because it has Catholicism, protestantism, orthodox, mormonism etc.? You ain't seen shit. teachings of hinduism might as well vary state to state or even district to district. There is a reason south asia is also called as the indian subcontinent.

And then there's French, where "sacré" means either sacred or damned depending on whether it comes after or before the object.

Case in point, "sacrebleu" is a way more baffling an expression than holy shit...

"Holy" contrary to popular belief doesn't mean "Absolute Purity" but rather "Absolute Separation, Of a total different substance"

So Holy Sh** would mean it's sh** that is so out there it's absolutely unbelievable shocking
