My wife was due at the end of March, shes had a rough time of it with this pregnancy and we are on the older side so have had extra scans and appointments. Last night she had what she described as "trapped wind". She woke me up at 0430 to say she might need a lift to the hospital (shes been in a few times with bleeding during this round) so I got our 8 year old put of bed and hastily packed a bag for my wife in case she was in for a couple of days. Dropped her at the hospital and bought our 8 year old home. Less than an hour later they hospital called to say that my wife had given birth. Mum and baby doing good!

  • Congrats, man! That’s awesome. We just returned from the hospital with our 35w surprise in tow. Similar chaotic rush to prepare for the hospital—but I can’t imagine doing it with an 8 year old. Clearly you can handle whatever this one throws at you. Enjoy dad-ing 2.0!

8 year old is well trained and no problem, even managed to get back home and get her to school on time!

  • Holy sh**. Get over there!

Im back home now, not much I can do. Baby is in NICU and my wife is having a well earned rest

NICU usually have visiting hours, you just have to do a surgical scrub before going in. You absolutely should go in when you can!

Yeah, ive been in now i was only away from the hospital for a couple of hours. Am taking our 8 year old in to meet her sister soon

Good luck! The NICU can be a bit scary, my first was a preemie who couldn't breathe on her own for a few weeks. Taking her home after she started breathing by herself was scary because we could never be sure if she was still breathing when asleep

Omg, can't wait to hear how the meeting with your 8yo went with little sis! Please update us! ❤️
