Longtime lurker. Just wanted to introduce you all to my 3 month old's best friend (aside from her sister), the ceiling fan. They have very deep conversations.
Certain domed lights are uncannily similar for newborns who's eyesight is developing, and the don't really have depth perception so I imagine it looks close enough 😂
Actually I've used this as a training exercise!
First for me, picking up the kid bc they loved to grab the chain. Holding a 3 month old up at head level and being patient as they tried to grab the swinging thing was asking a lot. And then were thrilled to find out the light came on when they pulled it.
Then when they were sitting up, I extended the chain down to eye level and had minutes of entertainment trying to grab the long chain and pull. Good hand eye/coordination at that stage.
Finally, when they were standing, I move the chain up to encourage them to stand longer and maybe even walk over to it off the couch.
(Yes, the kid could break the chain/fan switch, but I had just replaced one upstairs and realized that wouldn't have been the worst thing. It's easy to replace. Luckily, in the last year they haven't).
Each time they were successful, there was a fair amount of strobing I had to put up with for their reward and patience.
Tbf I had some good times with ceiling fans in my 20s. One time, I had been watching one for a while in the dark, and then someone turned on a light and I realized there was no fan on the ceiling at all.
This made me actually laugh out loud. I remember those days.
Mine’s three now, and he’d rather swing off it to body slam me on the couch than stare at it. And his knees always magically find my nuts. I should start wearing a cup.
Yeah they're big fans.

Oh yes, the boob light and alien spinning thing. A newborn's obsession
Loved a good boob discussion during the newborn stage. Sad we’re past that now…kinda.

Lmao. That brought me back. Our 1st was just obsessed. Her name was Fangela.
Take them to the fan/lighting section of your local home improvement store and blow their minds.
Just wait until you find the hour long ceiling fan compilations on YouTube

So true
My 3rd is 4 months old and his best friend looks JUST like your kid’s! Hilarious
My kid was a total fan of all the ceiling fans as a newborn as well. Just locked on whenever they were moving.
Dude mine too
It'll be your 5 month old's nemesis.
Speaking from experience
My son loved ceiling fans and the AC vent. Don’t get why that one was popular, it doesn’t even move!
My 9 month old is still a fan fan as well
This was also my son’s biggest fan
My son, when he was a little over a year old was absolutely obsessed with ceiling fans. They're so great haha.
FAN

We don't have any ceiling fans but my toddler still loves sitting and watching the (front load) washing machine run, gets her so excited haha
Mine was amazed by ours to the point that I wished they made a stuffy of a ceiling fan
My kid was fucking amazed by the ceiling fan when she was in her first few months.
Dude. At my young infancy I was enthralled by a naked bulb in a porcelain socket.
This is quite the upgrade!
This is also my almost 3 year old’s best friend. Sometimes they don’t grow out of it I guess.
Franklin the Fan. I remember those days
It looks like a boon. I honestly think thats why. Every kids loves them. On or off

I read on Reddit that ceiling fans are like Reddit for babies
