I have a lot of hair, and I have no plans to part with any of it. But, I want to try and cut down on the big time frizz and maybe support more of the curl.
My routine is:
I wash about once a week using Kristin Ess Moisture Rich Curl shampoo and conditioner. I comb the conditioner through my hair while showering.
While my hair is still wet, I use my hands to run Argan Oil (penetrating) through my hair.
I very very rarely dry my hair. I just leave it down to air dry or braid it to air dry. I prefer the braid method, it cuts down on my frizz by a lot, and my hair tends to not feel "crispy" once it is dried out.
I sleep with a bonnet on. I only finger brush it when dry. I either use clips to get it back or 3 hair ties (look, it is a lot of hair!)
I want to keep my care and routine very, very low maintenance. I won't use product that leaves my hair feeling stiff or crunchy if I can help it.

Note: Ouai is definitely out of my budget.

It doesn't often \"spiral\" up like this, but on a really good day it does.

  • Hi there! I'm a bot, and I've been summoned to help.

If you have not seen our WIKI yet: Please check it out! It's nearly 100 pages full of curated information to help answer all of your curl-related questions. You can use the included Table of Contents (page 2), the side bar, or CTRL-F to search for keywords and help navigate the document.

Reminder: Curl type is NOT your hair type! Whether you are wavy, curly, or coily - you have texture and you belong here. More than that, your curl type doesn't dictate how you care for your hair. To help your curls thrive, we recommend instead using the wiki link above to learn about your porosity, texture, and density.

If this is a photo submission: Please include your detailed routine for your post to remain active! This MUST include the brands of ALL products used, order of application and technique used to apply them, how you dried your hair, and anything else that you might find useful for people to know.

If you received this message in error: Please disregard this comment! I probably just picked up on a keyword in your title.

Thank you. Wishing you many happy, wonderfully curly hair days!

  • Omg I love your hair mine is similar but not as long and thick. Would love to have yours. Personally I love Shea naturals and Ouidad products. The curl cream would prob work great for u.

  • definitely opt for lightweight curl products - umberto giannini and camille rose have some good ones. personally i love skala, but i reccomend the blue one for your hair type because its lightweight and wont give you that uncomfortable feeling. also sleeping with a bonnet or silk pillowcase can help!

Thank you so much for the suggestions. I also do sleep in a bonnet, though I don't think I've noticed too much change because of it in the past year.
