I’m 23yo ruined my ears a year ago. I got other more serious health issues with my body, so I become stressed af and start use AirPods for music way too often and prolonged time tho with low volume, this and stress lead to damage. Now my ears ringing and sensitive to sounds, headphones make it worse and hurt me.
Hope your health improves.
Is it all types of headphones that make it worse? Have you tried open-ear, or bone conductor types?
Thank you! Yes, I can’t use any of them. Even speakers with medium volume cause me discomfort after few minutes.
I used to play with speakers, its honestly fine. Just make sure your environment isn't noisy and the speakers dont have too much bass and you'll be able to hear most things clearly. A alternative could be those haptic feedback body vests. You could wear one and feel people shoot and their footsteps instead of hear them if any sound is painful.
Thank you. Body vests sound interesting, is it really good thing to try? It's not cheap
I tried one in a loud convention and it was pretty good at letting me know audio information without needing my ears or sound. The problem is if your ears hurt from any sound, other then body vests, there aren't many other options that will let you play cs2 at near full capacity. Nothing else i know at least communicates audio information without ears. Maye you can find a place to try it
Thanks!
your welcome! happy i could help
I have played with speakers a few times when my headphones have been dead or not working, and it works but it’s a bit harder understanding where footsteps are coming from and such. I think after getting used to it it’s gonna be much easier, but it’s definitely gonna be a big change haha
I haven't tried this myself but I bet if you position your speakers to be directly on your left and right (as headphones would be positioned) you should be able to tell where the footsteps are coming from pretty well.
this is unnecessary lol you can replicate this with in game audio settings. look up a guide on positioning studio monitors for music producers. they should be at around head height, equidistant from your sitting position and each other, and angled just a few degrees towards you
Listening to music at a low volume damaged your ears?
Yes. I listen it with low amount of dB, but many times per day for hours.
not trying to add to your stress but I have an uneasy feeling that the music has nothing to do with your new tinnitus and hearing sensitivity. maybe get checked for anemia or something, iirc some people get symptoms like that. i wear headphones 8 hours a day at work listening to music sometimes loud sometimes quiet and have been doing so for a long long time and nothing like that has happened to me.
maybe just bodily differences but that seems very odd to me
Thanks but idk man, I have visited doctors, they don't know why I have this. I also had huge lack of body movement, sitting at home for a month. Stress also could lead to some damaging, maybe I had some inflamination too. Also it happened after I tried AirPods Pro with ANC mode. I believe few years ago I already had similar issue after using airpods with higher dB like 60-67, after that I got issues with my ears for a week and after that I wasnt able to use them on those volumes, so I start always keep it on 40-50dB. But now I can't use them safely at all
I see, sounds like you may just have sensitive ears or are prone to tinnitus. hope you figure out something that works for you
inflammation I have a feeling will be shown in the near future to be closely linked to tinnitus. studies are coming out increasingly frequently linking it to all sorts of psychiatric issues and neurological stuff
I play 70% of my games w.o sound. Im usually watching TV or something on the side monitor.
After a while you get really good at knowing timings, monitoring radar, etc.
I do use headphones when I'm playing faceit but the game is very playable even w.o sound.
Best of luck to you!
Do yourself and your future teammates a favor and quit the game
