So it's basically 2hdcs in the same stitch as a single stich. Think a small puff or bobble.
In the same stitch: Yarn over, insert, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, insert, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook) pull through all 4 loops on hook.
Each of these hdc-clusters will count as 1 pixel in whatever pattern you're making, it makes a squarish shape so works well with graphs.
You do have to be carful to not accidentally do an increase, that happened to me a few times in the big swaths of a single color, but it is luckily easily fixable by doing a decrease.Â
When doing a color change, use the new color as the pull through all 4 loops steps on the last stich of the previous color.
Edit: also, chain 1 at the end of the rows, I forgot to mention.Â
So cool!!! Thank you for explaining. Going to put this into practice in a chart that I have that wasn’t quite enough stitch large and also wasn’t playing nicely with my normal methods of doing charts!
I found an image I liked online, this one was a poster on etsy I think, I'll try and find the link when I get off work. I put the image into stichfiddle and edited it into a graph. I had to futz around with the setting a good bit to get it down to just a few colors, that site tends to want way more colors used than needed.

A Lost Boys reference, on my home page? Must be my lucky day.
This looks fantastic
I started hear “Michael” in a hushed eerie tone and I love it!
Lucky. I got a quick flash of the weirdo shirtless, greased-up sax player
I can hear the sax now!
those letters are cleeeaaaaaaan! nice work
Thanks! I used what I'm calling 2hdc-clusters to make it, i tried a few methods before landing on that for the projectÂ
Wait, can you share more? Because it looks so freaking amazing

awesome! is the whole project done like that or just the letters?
The whole project, this method made it a nice weight without being too stiff. I used a size G 4mm clover hook and Big Twist Living yarn.Â
thats way cool
that's brilliant! i know it's a reference to the movie but it reminds me of the parkour group storror's bridge hang
Omg I’m a massive Lost Boys fan. This is incredible work! You’ve made my morning
Oh. My. Glob!!!!! Obsessed with this. I’ve never made a blanket before but if you have a pattern I just may have to
