I only used a pattern to understand how to make arm holes and then I kind of poked around Pinterest to make up the rest but I didn’t use anything specific. His body and neck are weirdly longer than they look so I just kept putting it on him to see if I was headed in the right direction. Then increasing and decreasing to adjust. I honestly did not think it was going to work but it turned out perfect for him.
I have a dopamine library. The walls just got finished being painted a lovely sea blue, the day bed has lemon yellow sheets and there's an electric tea kettle set up in there. Now I just need to finish the wildflower blanket I'm making to go in there and I might never leave!

He also loves to try and steal my phone stylus and every single free pen/marker/pencil in the house. TBD if he discovers the joy of yarn, but so far he doesn't seem to care. (Might be because I keep a stash of his toys within reach for distractions, though)
My kitten swallowed 20cms of wool and had to go to the emergency and given medication to forcibly vomit. They didn’t think it would come up but thankfully it did

On the total other end of the spectrum, my dog once singled out a yarn ball that had fallen out of the bag after I bought it. She never plays with toys and it was cotton so I just let her have it to see what she'd do.
She meticulously tore off the paper wrapper and snuggled that ball of yarn for like three days. Never even pulled any of it out of shape. I think it smelled good, and after a few days it just smelled like her so then she was done with it.
This little boy, at about 1 year old, ate almost 12" of yarn. $1000 and some staples later, he was okay. He ate something else a few years ago and cost even more $. He's 11 years old now and still my baby. I keep my yarn locked in a room that he can't get into and watch it like a hawk when I'm working on a project in the living room.
Not only does this idiot baby boy love to try and eat my yarn, he also loves to lay on my projects while I'm working on it (this one was a fluffy pillowcase, which is why the pillow, I was checking the sizing 😆). Unfortunately he is very cute so he gets away with it. When I get more of this particular yarn I'm gonna make him a little blanket because he was OBSESSED with this project.
I love that they already have one under their arm lol. My parents dog does the same thing with kindling for the fire. She'll just end up with a pile of thieved sticks
I set her up for failure too because sometimes I'll purposefully have the yarn trailing across the room while I work on it so she can pounce on it and lick/chew the yarn. (don't worry, I make sure she doesn't lick/chew it too much to hurt her or anything. Always carefully monitor my cats when yarn is around)
My (very sweet) cat has obvious intrusive thoughts around yarn. She'll just sort of zone in on it, leaning precariously, then shake herself out of it and remove herself from the situation for a while. She *knows* not to touch it (she can bite through yarn in one bite, ask me how I know), and she *wants* to be good, but it moves!
I have caught this little shit trying to eat through the plastic bags that yarn is in. He has a sixth sense for it or something. He's had multiple surgeries from yarn and hair ties.
It looks cute, but I probably wouldn't trust him not to break the hair ties and eat them. He's also very picky about his toys, so we're always hesitant to buy him new ones.
Only one out of our three cats cares about yarn, and it's impossible to get any crochet done around her because my working yarn is always in her mouth. I'm glad that I've been doing projects for myself - I'd feel bad giving someone something soaked in cat spit 😅
my little asshole who i've had to pull about 8 inches of sopping wet yarn directly out of his throat. thankfully i think it traumatized him enough that he hasn't done it since

Not a yarn eater but a yarn stealer. My dog likes to chase my yarn when I throw it across the room when I'm re-skeining, he then steals any blankets I make for my bed.
I've had 2 emergency vet visits for yarn eating with my boy. I have to watch him like a hawk. He's also eaten holes in finished projects. Hes an adorable terror.
I’ve had a few over the years. There is nothing quite like the sensation of the cold, wet, slimy yarn hitting your fingers to make you regret cat-life.

I don't have a cat, but i do have a dog who thinks that my yarn balls are just more toys. So he tries to "tidy" them out of my project basket and into his toy basket 🤪 I have to stash them under my WIP so he can't see them
I had a dog do that years ago. The yarn had some wool in it and she was initially a hunting dog. I noticed my yarn was caught under the table but that's just where the buffet was. I later found some of that yarn in the back yard because it didn't digest well.
Oh she was fine after. She was mostly chewing on it and I think she only swallowed a short piece. It wasn't a lot of time. She's gone now and but she died years after that because she was about 13 and had cancer. She was a really good dog and I miss her.
I’m glad that there weren’t any yarn complications! I am sorry for your loss. Losing a pet can be as hard as losing a family member. Sounds like she had a pretty good life with someone who loved her though! ❤️
I do not crochet around my cats anymore after what happened to my sister's cat. Her cat ate so much yarn that she needed surgery for intestinal blockage. She learned the lesson the hard way and I heed the warning and don't test it.
This happened to me one time. I looked down, saw her eating yarn, had to pull like 2 feet of it out of her mouth. I haven't worked on that project since lol

M'y cat once try to eat a whole ball of yarn (it was a small one but still). It was terrifying to discover his liking for yarn this way. He did throw up the whole thing later and nothing happened to him hopefully. Now I have to be carefull with everything that include thread, like hairbands, he ate one once.

I had one. She didn't always get all the way through with acrylic so I didn't know she was at it until all of the sudden my left hand pinky was slimy.

Yes, it’s my 9mo daughter. All my projects are slow going because now I have to hide my yarn stash and work while she sleeps.. yes this is a legit human baby, no she has never actually swallowed any yarn but if there’s yarn put she definitely tries to sneak off with a skein to mouth it
My sweet baboo that is years gone now, was a crochet serial killer! He would chew through blankets and even a whole skien. I had to hide my work from him! I’ll never forget him! Kiss your sweet baby for me. Nice work too!
My cat Percy ate a chunk of yarn, and I was horrified he had a bowel obstruction. A vet recommended pumpkin, and while it did help him pass the yarn, cats can also vomit from too much pumpkin.

Molly wanted to eat yarn so bad but had such self control that she would just monch near the yarn without actually touching it.
Our current lady, Izzy, is very old and has no interest in anything unless it’s cat food, someone’s lap, or her recliner.

I set her up for failure too because sometimes I'll purposefully have the yarn trailing across the room while I work on it so she can pounce on it and lick/chew the yarn. (don't worry, I make sure she doesn't lick/chew it too much to hurt her or anything. Always carefully monitor my cats when yarn is around)
She's such a menace but I love her. :D
Yep, I have two little land moths.
Mine pounces on me and shoves his head in my yarn bag. He might get sneakier as he's older, he's still only 6mo

Pulled about 4 ft of yarn out of this booger's throat once. That ended up being a smelly sheep lol.
My (very sweet) cat has obvious intrusive thoughts around yarn. She'll just sort of zone in on it, leaning precariously, then shake herself out of it and remove herself from the situation for a while. She *knows* not to touch it (she can bite through yarn in one bite, ask me how I know), and she *wants* to be good, but it moves!

This one likes to to cut the yarn. She doesn't eat it, but she can get through it in 2 chomps and then I have more joins than I need to 😭😭.

I have caught this little shit trying to eat through the plastic bags that yarn is in. He has a sixth sense for it or something. He's had multiple surgeries from yarn and hair ties.

It looks cute, but I probably wouldn't trust him not to break the hair ties and eat them. He's also very picky about his toys, so we're always hesitant to buy him new ones.
Only one out of our three cats cares about yarn, and it's impossible to get any crochet done around her because my working yarn is always in her mouth. I'm glad that I've been doing projects for myself - I'd feel bad giving someone something soaked in cat spit 😅

Not a yarn eater but a yarn stealer. My dog likes to chase my yarn when I throw it across the room when I'm re-skeining, he then steals any blankets I make for my bed.
My dog thinks yarn balls are stuffies and occasionally I'll find him chompin down on one in the corner
I have a child that has the impulsive urge to rapidly frog whatever project he manages to gets his hands on. Id take a yarn eater at this point lmao
I've had 2 emergency vet visits for yarn eating with my boy. I have to watch him like a hawk. He's also eaten holes in finished projects. Hes an adorable terror.
I’ve had a few over the years. There is nothing quite like the sensation of the cold, wet, slimy yarn hitting your fingers to make you regret cat-life.

I don't have a cat, but i do have a dog who thinks that my yarn balls are just more toys. So he tries to "tidy" them out of my project basket and into his toy basket 🤪 I have to stash them under my WIP so he can't see them

He’s learned that he has to be sneaky to delay being caught. So now, I usually only realize when I start to feel damp yarn.
Mine don't just chew on the line they snip it so they aren't allowed around the yarn anymore they have no self-control. Lol
I had a dog do that years ago. The yarn had some wool in it and she was initially a hunting dog. I noticed my yarn was caught under the table but that's just where the buffet was. I later found some of that yarn in the back yard because it didn't digest well.

Oh she was fine after. She was mostly chewing on it and I think she only swallowed a short piece. It wasn't a lot of time. She's gone now and but she died years after that because she was about 13 and had cancer. She was a really good dog and I miss her.
I’m glad that there weren’t any yarn complications! I am sorry for your loss. Losing a pet can be as hard as losing a family member. Sounds like she had a pretty good life with someone who loved her though! ❤️

I do not crochet around my cats anymore after what happened to my sister's cat. Her cat ate so much yarn that she needed surgery for intestinal blockage. She learned the lesson the hard way and I heed the warning and don't test it.

Yup, my prev cat. He was named Chewy... and not because of his looks! My boy lived to 18 years old before cancer took the sweet lil mouth mofo.
Omg!🤦🏾♀️ I have two furbabies, one will cuddle with me while I crochet, and the other has to stay far away because she will attack my yarn. Sometimes she pretends to be chill and cuddles too, but five minutes later I wonder what is going on with my tension and see her with a mouth full of yarn…

M'y cat once try to eat a whole ball of yarn (it was a small one but still). It was terrifying to discover his liking for yarn this way. He did throw up the whole thing later and nothing happened to him hopefully. Now I have to be carefull with everything that include thread, like hairbands, he ate one once.

I had one. She didn't always get all the way through with acrylic so I didn't know she was at it until all of the sudden my left hand pinky was slimy.
Then I got some alpaca/cotton blend. For some reason, THAT made her go from "I can nom this," to "I MUST BLOCK MY INTESTINES WITH THIS LINEAR MAGIC RIGHT NOW!"
Yes, it’s my 9mo daughter. All my projects are slow going because now I have to hide my yarn stash and work while she sleeps.. yes this is a legit human baby, no she has never actually swallowed any yarn but if there’s yarn put she definitely tries to sneak off with a skein to mouth it
My sweet baboo that is years gone now, was a crochet serial killer! He would chew through blankets and even a whole skien. I had to hide my work from him! I’ll never forget him! Kiss your sweet baby for me. Nice work too!

I love when I'm focused on a project and suddenly my working yarn is wet.
I look up and there's one of my girls, yarn running through her mouth, purring and drooling, contented as can be.
My 3yo kid. He's either putting my working yarn in his mouth or winding it around his fingers.
It's lovely crocheting along and all of a sudden the yarn has a suspiciously wet spot.... It's great.
My cat Percy ate a chunk of yarn, and I was horrified he had a bowel obstruction. A vet recommended pumpkin, and while it did help him pass the yarn, cats can also vomit from too much pumpkin.
