Personally I don't see the problem here. Why should Anthony be punished, and not honoured, because he was forced to undergo something awful?
It's important to remember historical figures like him, who innately were homoesexual/bi, but because of societal pressures were forced to change, or wear a mask, to exist.
It's important so that we remember how far we have come. People like this are influential for raising awareness of homosexuality and bi-sexualness, in an era where it was not as prominent.
We wouldn't be where we are now without people like Anthony.
He should be honoured. That's not the problem. It's holding him up as a bisexual icon, specifically, that's the problem.
I think one should be cautious labelling a dead person, but, it is worth noting that literally all of Tony's relationships were with men prior to the aforementioned conversion therapy.
There are NUMEROUS other classic film stars who had relationships with both men and women (James Dean, Marlene Dietrich, Louise Brooks, Marlon Brando, and most likely, Greta Garbo, just to name some of the most well-documented ones) that they could have chosen to highlight instead.
I'll give them credit that they apologised, but they really should have done even minimal research here.
I agree with the potential issues of labelling of him as bi-sexual, and that's what the apology in the post was aimed at. However I was referring to your title of the post, which made it seem like the problem was that he was forced to undergo conversion therapy and therefor shouldn't be held up.

Antony’s story is so tragic, this tweet is so tasteless.
