I watched a more recent interview of her on the breakfast club talking about it (I say "more recent", but it was probably like a decade ago or something😆) but it made me really feel for her. She lost EVERYTHING and it seems at that moment that she genuinely thought it was a smart move, but upon reflection she saw how bad it was. I couldn't imagine my worst life destroying cringe moment being broadcasted to millions and that being the ONLY thing I'm known for forever. She seems like a really kind and level headed person too. It was sad.
I do remember when it all went down and the vicarious embarrassment I felt. It was AWFUL.
I know it was the same night as the infamous Kanye/Swift moment, but was this before or after that in the night? I can’t remember but I was a junior in high school and this was massive
Money and fame should not make empathy impossible. She can be her yet still get sympathy for dealing with Kanye and Lil Mama's antics. As well as the fact that we all know Beyonce should have won best album of that year.
2009 VMAs was so unhinged
I love how they just ignore her so completely
Alica keys said in a interview that she didn't even know she was on stage.
She literally looks at her in the video. She must have meant she didn’t know who she was? Which is worse.
Is it because of this incident that I have never heard of this person ?
Probably. That or your lip gloss has never been poppin.
Oh sh-t, that just unlocked a vague memory.
It happened the same night Kanye did his whole “imma let you finish” with Taylor swift and that’s what everyone was fixated on
Yeah, it is said thats the moment that ruined her career.
It's so god damn funny that someone would have one single pop off and then be like "welp I NEED to be on THAT stage"
The audacity.
Drunk?
She’s also from NYC,so guess it was a pride moment for her?
More like a no shame moment.
That is what she explained later in an interview about it.
on top of an ounce of coke, i bet
That would make sense.
Good god. That was absolutley brutal.
I think that filled my cringe quota for the week.
Gotta get your quota up.

After. This was one of the closing numbers IIRC.
I reckon after. Kanye came in off the henny
I can’t watch it again
Poor Beyoncé had to deal with this AND the Kanye/Taylor incident on the same night
The words “poor” and “Beyonće” should never be used together
Money and fame should not make empathy impossible. She can be her yet still get sympathy for dealing with Kanye and Lil Mama's antics. As well as the fact that we all know Beyonce should have won best album of that year.
Wow, that was the same event? Crazy.
I only know her as the judge in America’s Best Dance Crew.
classic. so embarrassing
no matter how many times i’ve seen this vid the second hand embarrassment still makes me want to die every time
Old
Yes, hence the title saying 2009
Cringe has a statue of limitations
*statute
nono, there's a statue
Made of limitations.
Typo, I did know the difference 😂
You ever cringe so hard you freezing become limited in fear? We call that the statue of limitations.
I like it the other way better
