Canon is obviously Canon, but people are free to imagine whatever they like for visuals in their head as they’re experiencing the books.
There’s a reoccurring issue where people will jump on others for fan art or things like this, if it’s not adhering strictly to Canon visuals, and it’s weird.
Someone making art or fan casting doesn’t change anything at all about who these characters are for you, and certainly not their official Dragonsteel descriptions, so why harsh someone else’s fun?
We should be supportive of new people experiencing the franchise and expressing their fandom for it in healthy ways like this.
However that’s just one Radiants opinion I suppose.
I hope I didn’t come off as too harsh myself, I just see variations of this a lot, and it often times leaves the Poster feeling bad for enjoying the series “wrong”, and that does nothing but harm us as a community.
This is cremposting however, so this is likely all just complete Crem. xD
We have banned fancast, fancast memes, look-a-like, and casting suggestions. If you have any questions please message the mod team.
Thanks!
Outrageous. We will know the Stormfather is the god from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
I didn’t know Monty Python. But this is more perfect than perfect
Do yourself a favor and get to know Monty Python
I will tomorrow
Storming good comedy
Hell yeah. Holy grail and life of Brian are both peak.
I wonder if I could cast all the major SLA characters just out of Monty Python characters
I mean... Clearly.
Is Dalinar supposed to be Mufasa or Zazu?
Yes.
Can he still be voiced by John Oliver like the Zazu in the Lion King remake?
I don't even care if it's animated. John Oliver as Dalinar is perfect casting.
Only if he's portrayed by AI James Earl Jones in flashbacks, without the other characters ever mentioning it.
...genius.
Absolute Cinema.
Zazu is Lift
I was gonna say Wit, but I like Lift better
Lift is just Tina Belcher.
John Oliver as Dalinar
Yes
The Assassin In White is so obviously an Assassins Creed reference my mind always put Szeth in a red wrap belt.
Is it bad I didn't realize it was r/cremposting until the last image?
Honestly friend, I also had to check. I will have the worst time reading Dalinar without picturing Lion King characters for the foreseeable future.
Who will play other Shallan?
Hear me out
NGL Kronk makes a good Dalinar facewise
Also bodywise.
Arguably NOT personality-wise unless you count speaking languages that sound like gibberish to everyone around him
Shallan
Who do we cast as old man Taravangian?
📏🥳📏🥳📏🥳📏🥳📏🥳📏
Hey so the OP said they just finished Words of Radiance, maybe edit this comment or at least remove/replace the gif as it’s potentially spoilery.
Do you not think Morgan Freeman would make a nice Taravangian?
📏🥳📏🥳📏🥳📏🥳📏🥳📏
Don’t misunderstand me, I’ll watch Morgan Freeman in literally anything, he’s a great actor and has a killer vocal tone.
I just think the gif choice could have been better.
Unfortunately you’re right.
I think the one I posted was fine before people starting pointing out that it’s a spoiler :/
Now anyone reading this comment chain would know to take it literally.
Edit: that taravangian might have a bit of a god complex in words of radiance
You can still edit the comment and change the gif y’know.
No
Stormfather had me dying 🤣
I think (Cartoon) Optimus Prime is a stronger choice for Dalinar.
Zazu as Dalinar? Bold choice.
Kaladin with short hair is illegal

Hahaha nice
I always imagined mother gothel for navani too! Except much warmer and less kidnappy (altho she can kidnap me if she wants)
I feel like you did our boy Rock dirty
This is good crem, gancho! You have pleased the mighty Lopen 1 times with your posts!
Some of these are going to change wildly once you have finished book 5 and some are going to stay the exact same
Adolin and Glen Powell have that exact same energy
Some of my mental interpretations are vastly different:
-Kaladin - Stereotypical Shonen anime protagonist.
-Dalinar - Ned Stark or Arrowverse's Ra's Al Ghul
-Adolin - Trip (from Enterprise)
-Szeth - Grown up Aang
-Syl - Hook's Tinkerbell
Rock - Dwayne Johnson
Shallan's Dad - King Zog from Disenchantment (complete with John DiMaggio's voice.)
Stormfather - Monty Python's God
I mean this in the nicest way possible.. but do you just, like, ignore character descriptions?
Usually yes. My mind tends to form a picture of a character based on vibes and it’s very hard for me to overwrite that later.

Duh. Dalinar doesn't have a tail
