Spoilers ahead for the whole Cosmere.

Hoid’s Torment prevents him from harming other people, but it’s clearly not just about intent. He can still cause psychological harm, and in his encounter with Kelsier, Hoid was sure he was hurting him, yet Kelsier’s non-living state somehow made it possible. Hoid’s surprise there suggests he can’t physically attack living people at all.

Nomad, who has the same Torment, couldn’t even hold a weapon, while Hoid never had that problem. That could be individual variation in how the Dawnshard manifests, or because Nomad is too well aware how to cause a harm, or maybe Hoid just have better imagination to consider the weapon a part of his costume.

So here’s the question: could Hoid bang a virgin? Tearing the hymen can happen during vaginal sex and could count as harm, even if it doesn’t occur in every case. Depending on anatomy, could the Torment prevent penetration altogether?

Similarly, lack of natural lubrication can cause microtears or fissures. And what about anal sex? Being the top often leads to anal fissures without enough lube. Since lube probably isn’t common everywhere in the Cosmere, does Hoid always carry some, or would the Torment stop him?
